Since the summer i have been wanting to get a labtop but as i wait longer and longer they come out with new ones which is normal. Does anyone own or know of the Sony Vaio 750 labtop or close to it? Is it good or should i just go with something simpler and less expensive or does anyone know...

Ok i know i don't know very much about computers but in the research i did tonight about the modem problem i have found to agree with Oyeve on changing your setting to 57,600 or lower to see if that makes any difference at all. :)

is there anyway if i change the connecting number if my connection will be better i have read it somewhere that there are different numbers for the connections that you have...anyways just an idea?..!:)

Make sure your port speed is set to at least 19200 for 14.4kbps modems, and 38400 or preferably 57600 for 28.8kbps modems. If you have a 28.8kps modem, and your software only supports a maximum port speed of 19.2k (such as older versions of PCPlus), consider upgrading to a more recent version...

Or is it that the computer is too slow and it will run at different speeds of the day?

AMD all they way at least thats what i have heard...and since there not so big but truely they are big they don't get a whole lot of credit. They are alot cheaper but you get more mhz or gigabityes more than ever. So i would go with the AMD even though your friend has his mind set on the brand...

When i connect to earthlink i have been finding out that i connect at like 45,333 or 46,667 but lately it has been connecting at 45,333bps but then later on like in an hour i feel that the internet runs slower and when i look at the connection it jumps down to 31,200bps. Does anyone know why it...

Did you try like taking the modem slightly out of its socket and then putting it back in...because that can reset the settings in your computer too...thats what i did to mine and it worked and i had a similiar problem.

Another question is what causes a DVD to freeze. I am using a DX3 board and running on a celeron 500 with 96M of RAM so my system is plenty to run DVD's. Thanks.
