You won't need any sledgehammer. I've had my sx830 for a year. The PS is a good high quality one, as is the 400w. Mine is quiet and I have had no problems what so ever.

I used WinDVD (software) with a ADM K6 2 300. It was a little choppy but watchable. I had been using a HW Plus decoder, which worked well, but I was upgrading to a Duran 600/MSI K7T Pro, so I'm sticking with the software. But the video pass through, with the decoder, didn't cause any problems...

Any chance that the cable is plugged in the wrong way, have you tried flipping the connector around?? Probably not using all the right words here.

I read something yesturday about ASUS anouncing an (all-in-one) video card similiar to ATI's "All-in-Wonder". It would use the gforce 2 mx chip. Has anyone else heard any news along this line? Thanks

I recently got the 128 Pro. Does just about everything, DVD movies, plays TV, records from outside video source. The retail version has some pretty good software. I like the card, I think it was about $125 less than the radeon.

I also just upgraded to the AIW 128 Pro (32mg). I have a DVD and the movies are great. I also replaced a HW Plus decoder card. I ran my TV (antenna here, no cable) into the card so I can watch TV if I want. I think I paid $175 for retail version, which includes some good software including...

Adams - you will still need a Software DVD player. I just got an ATI AIW Pro 128. It came with ATI's DVD player software which workds fine, but you should be able to use any software program, ie WinDVD, Power DVD, etc.

Biggie - if you haven't already, on the ATI CD, go to the install directory and then to the Mmcdvd directory. Click on setup (in the Mmcdvd directory) and it should install all of the multimedia programs including TV. Maybe you have already done this. Good luck!!

Quick update - installed my AIW 128 Pro last night. Went pretty well except when I run the DVD player my system hangs - can't even turn off the machine with the power switch. But everything else seems to work ok. I haven't done any video editing or capture yet, but the TV channels look pretty...
