Pick up a used 6800gt agp or 6800gs. You won't regret it! I just spent $150 on a used 6800gt to replace my 9800pro, and the difference is night and day. Great value!

Well, with a simple "ini" file edit, it runs with opengl on a radeon just fine. In fact, it runs better then d3d on my rig.

Well, I did find THIS

UT runs much better with ogl then with d3d. It's also said that Far Cry runs better under ogl.

Check to make sure antialiasing is disabled, as well as anisotropic filtering. I think these may be enabled by default, depending on driver versions.
