What's the better printer, the 820 or the newer C60? Both about the same price after discounts.

If you're looking to print photos, get the 820. The C60 is geared more toward an "all around" printer. THe 820 is one of the best photo printers around in this price range. Beautiful prints.

Get the Epson 820, it's an awesome printer which has very compelling photo quality results.

I paid $80 for this after $20 off $100 at Staples.com during the 5/19 heyday, so this is a killer deal with free shipping.

Don't forget to use eBates!

I agree... I've had the 820 for a couple weeks now. As long as you use Epson paper the photographs are nearly flawless.

I buy ink from Megatoners.com at $7.75 a cart and combining this with the deals on Epson paper make this a great alternative to paying for digital photo prints.

Once again I think Tom (or his minion) and his infinite wisdom fails in his review.

He praises HP and Lexmark for having print head in the carts and mentions that while this adds expense you can buy "remanufactured" carts to save $$ (as someone who used refurbed carts I can say "BS... they suck"), yet he completely fails to mention that you can buy NEW "compatible" carts for the Epson or Canon that are dirt cheap. Instead he simply labels the 820 carts as expensive. As a previous owner of HP and Lexmark and can definitely say I will never own another of either, paying $40 for their cartridges is absurd when printers like the 820 can be purchased for $75.

Buy compatible carts for $7.75 (Megatoners.com), get your Epson photo paper at Costco ($20 for 100 sheets) and buy your 820 for $75 and you by far have perhaps the cheapiest photo quality printer possible.

it's been months since i've shopped at om online but i clearly remember that i couldnt find the spot to put the coupon code in...well, i think i was using IE. I switched to netscape, and lo and behold, there it was....
dont know how it is now, though

It's not your browser because I see the promo code spot on IE (add something to your cart and it will show your cart and on that screen the promo code spot appears). Try creating an account, I notice that mine says "Welcome Jason" across the top so maybe it only shows up for people who have an account (because technically the only people with promo codes should be customers who have accounts).

Most of the promo codes for OM are 20 off 100 or 30 off 150... the 25 off 100 are usually for new customers only

ebates.com offer 3 % rebate for OM and staples too, but i find it hard to use coupon link and ebates. Has to play around the order of open/close browser.

For the promo code. Find any "click thro" link on coupon site. Then box on the cart page should be there. Enter what ever coupon code u find then.

I tried both netscape and IE. If I go through ebates, the promo code box doesn't show up. If I use either browser and go to OM directly, the promo code box shows up. I guess they don't want people to double dip.

I found that it uses this url to apply the coupon:
http://www.officemax.com/max/soluti...Coupon_pro.jsp?coupon=XXXX&BV_UseBVCookie=yes

Replace XXXX with your 4 digit $25 off $100 code.

I used IE to go through ebates to OM, added items and don't see the promo code box. Put the above url in the address with the correct coupon code and it told me that the coupon was applied and it showed my $25 off at the ***Review*** step. So you can definitely use the above url to get your discount. Whether it worked with ebates remains to be seen. I just ordered the printer with a free after rebate item.

How to use click through coupons (OfficeMax.com, Buy.com, CDNow.com, etc.) and eBates together:

1) Click and activate the coupon, go to OfficeMax.com add the printer and something small to get your total $100.00 or more, go to check out.
2) Open a new web browser window leaving the first one in tact (do not close the first window), go to www.ebates.com, click OfficeMax.com, login if necessary, you should now see the eBates ad banner occupying the top 1/5th of the screen with OfficeMax.com below, click cart your coupon and Epson 820 printer should be there, if they are proceed to check out like normal.

this method worked for me before, but now, once i am on step 2, the new browser of OM with ebates on top will clear the cart. (actually both browser's cart will be empty). and the cart on the new (second) browser will now have none "promo code" to enter, so...

I try one time to do it reverse, Open ebates first and then open another link from coupon site. I am able to get it done back on ebates's browser. However, the amount never show up in my ebates account...

Went to one of my local Office Depot's today, and price was marked at $69.88. Out of stock at this store. Had the guy check stock at other nearby OD's. Wrote down the sku# and phone number of store that had stock. Then, I drove down the street to Office Max and PM'd the price. They called the OD store to verify, and gave me the $69.88 price. They would'nt give me the extra 15% because OM has a mail in $20.00 gift card attached to the purchase of the 820. So, I'm happy with my approx $50.00 AR purchase.
