I agree SRGilbert. My first guitar was a Yamaha accoustic and is what I started taking lessons with. When I made the jump to electric guitar about a year later, my fingers were flying! It seemed so smooth. IMHO, it's easier to make the transition from accoustic to electric than vice versa...

But of course if there is a KILLER deal or a big sound quality difference between a $250 model compared to a $350 model, I can go higher. My wife wants me to pick out a guitar for Xmas and I will feel guilty if I go too high.
