hey guys...I am tech and can fix or explain most issues but this one is just a little odd
here it is
I have a k7s5a by ecs mb with an athlon xp 1800+ on it
now it always said my external clock was 66mhz right from day one...i didnt pay attention to it becuase it still ran at 1528mhz...not far...
yep..i know your problem
its a new way for the scum licking spam masters to hit ya with their ads...they use windows messaging, not to be confused with msn messenger..windows messaging is used primarialy by computers on a local network and if you have it enabled u can send/recieve popup messages...
i have seen 512megs run and crash on win98 os....also have seen 1gig run only once on this os and not run on 3 othersystems.
my question is how much is good and what is too much for this operating system?
ill take a guess without knowing morethan what you have told us....if its right at the boot up i would look into a networking or a ram problem....or maybe your boot sector got corrupted
dude
those are minor probs...welcome to windows
anyway..winxp has a niffty little feature called system restore
it will let you go back to when you had no problems and restore from that point
beats the hell out of a reformat eh?
well first off you didnt say whether you ran scandisk or not...this should be done first
if you get errors everytime you run it then you know
another thing to check would be ram...try one stick at a time and if one acts up after you install it then you know its ram
another thing is scan for...
try disabling all windows sound schemes and see if you can find the latest drivers online for your card
ive had the turtle beach card and found it to be quite good
if that doesnt work look for a conflict somewhere...like maybe with your nic or video card
hope ya get it worked out soon
cheers
whoa dude!
no no no
never, ever flash your mobo coz a game freezes up on ya
a game can be fixed, your mobo cant
if you dont do the flash just right you wil..and i mean will fry it but good
and besides...the system you have is fairly new and im sure the bios is up to date any way
what i would...
that power supply is a little weak for yer system...but more often than not if you get crashes to the desktop its a ram issue
what happens is it tries to write to a bad address or one thats in use...like if you have video ram cache enabled in your bios, it will just do a purge and dump the prog...
