Nvidia GPUs soon a fading memory?

If I can add a small point. nVidia and their parrots keep talking about how big this HPC market is and even though they made less than 1% of their earnings on HPC last year nVidia claims that it's going to sustain them and be bigger than the discreet graphics market in the end. Personally I find...

Intel to segregate Mainstream and Enthusiast Platforms even more with Sandy Bridge

The beauty of the optical interface is you don't have to worry about electrical interference. Most copper connections these days are limited to 100m at the very longest due to electrical interference from radio signals, tv's, microwaves, cell phones, cordless phones, and the earths magnetic...

Intel to segregate Mainstream and Enthusiast Platforms even more with Sandy Bridge

USB and Firewire sought to replace the Parallel, Serial and PS2 ports and some other specialized ports that were on niche products. LightPeak could replace EVERY port. This means no DVI, no Video, no ESATA, no RJ45, no SPDIF, no analog audio, no IDE, no SATA, no PCI. LightPeak could literally...

Charlie's thoughts on the fermi derivative parts

I'm probably making a mistake replying to this as it's clear you have fanboi tendencies, but if Charlie's numbers are correct I can see the logic in what he's saying. As others have pointed out, if the bare package price for the chip itself is $250, once you tack in costs for the board, HS/Fan...

    Multi-monitor N00b question.

Breaking that up in paragraphs would help. IMO matching monitors is the best setup, but if all you want is extra desktop for multitasking then it won't really matter but the closer in size the better, it's painful on the eyes to adjust resolution as you move back and forth between monitors...

    AT fermi review is up!

Very fair review as always. It's about what I expected, a smidge faster than ATI's current product with 3 times the power consumption. If ATI was willing to go to that level of power consumption I'm sure they could have upped the voltages, the memory, the memory clock and easily beat Fermi...

How will ATI respond to Fermi? (poll included)

I'm just guessing but I don't remember Charlie ever saying what the 10K number referred to, whether it was all Fermi chips or just 480. I can't imagine that if they have a 2% yield for 480 where they already have 32 dead SP's that they are going to get another 10-20% yield for chips with another...

How will ATI respond to Fermi? (poll included)

ATI isn't going to do anything. Charlie was dead on with every single rumor he posted. I believe his trend will continue and that Nvidia is only planning on producing 10k cards total for the worldwide launch. That means if you are one of the lucky(or stupid) ones to buy this monster you will...

    Newegg selling Fake Intel CPUs

http://www.facebook.com/notes/neweggcom/official-update-on-the-intel-core-i7-920-cpu-situation/400548248571?_fb_noscript=1 Newegg's facebook page now says it was a distributor (not the one Kyle pulled out of his ass) and that the distributor has been fired. Intel's also involved at this point...

    Newegg selling Fake Intel CPUs

NewEgg or one of their suppliers got taken on a load of fakes. The people posting in this thread obviously have no idea how far people will go to fake CPU's these days. Anyone remember back in the days of the Pentium II how there were groups buying the CPU's and using lasers to alter the CPU's...

GTX 470 pics *EDIT* possible benchmarks

Everything Fudzilla is saying right now is what Charlie said a month ago, the only difference is Fudzilla is putting a heavy nvidia friendly (and press department approved) spin on it. They have basically at this point confirmed the GF100 is running low yields, will be very hot, very power...

Smoke in places your not supposed to, or quit smoking, or cut the costs of smoking with NO harmful effects!

The Government never put any of that in anyones bodies. Entrepreneurs created and marketed very useful products (at the time) that in the case of some (Asbestos and others) the government at the time had no regulatory power to stop the sale of. Extensive reports of health problems that occurred...

Dead: VisionTek ATi Radeon HD3870 512MB OC

The binary blob drivers are almost as good an nVidia's. The opensource driver does 2d pretty good, it's gonna be a year or two before it's a feature complete 3d driver. But like I said, last I tried the binary blob drivers are back up to about as good as nVidia.

Free Windows Vista Business & Office Professional 2007 ?

The key point is this doesn't qualify as a "gift". This is straight up income per IRS regulations and the company providing the product has to report the income to the IRS if it exceeds a certain amount. But you are supposed to report ALL income, failure to do so can result in fines and...
