I stole this from fatwallet but figured some folks here would want to get in on this.

J&R currently is selling the brand new Denon AVR-1909 receiver for only $499, $150 off the $650 price everyone else is selling it at. The trick is, you have to order it over the phone.

This is a great new receiver from Denon, 3 HDMI inputs, HD audio decoding, 1080p upscaling, the works..

Call 800-806-1115 and tell them you saw the deal posted online for $499.

J&R Link for reference

Just an FYI, J&R is an approved reseller of Denon so the Warranty will be honored if you buy from them.

Good deal on a nice receiver.

Personally, I would spend a little more and get a Onkyo 805 before they are all gone. It's the best bang for your buck receiver on the market today!

Pretty good deal. If I wasn't so hot for the Sony STR-DA2400ES, I'd be all over it.

Sony? Does that even compare to a Denon or Onkyo?

Oh my... hadn't realized the 806 had arrived. 'Just compared the 805 to the 806 and was surprised: after years of feature-improvements with the annual updates, the 806 appears to be a mix of increased HDMI ports/upscaling and reduced features over the 805. Or, Onkyo's become more conservative in their ratings and forgotten to include features.

Onkyo really downgraded the new 806 from the 805. The Burr Brown DAC's are gone and only 2 DSP's compared to 3 DSP's on the 805. The 805 weighed in at 51 lbs due it's beefy power supply and quality components. The 806 lost all that and weighs 38lbs. This says it all, the 805 had 60A high current capability, but now the 806 does 36A. The new model doesn't compare in terms of quality internal components.

Again, Get an Onkyo 805 before they are all gone! You'll wish you had for the price.

Its designed to compete directly with it really. It features many of the same features Onkyo put into that (Dynamic EQ being a great one that both use). The 1909 is VERY new so there aren't a lot of reviews out there, but folks that hav egotten one on avsforum seem to like it so far.

The 606's are starting to experience some problems now too. A lot of people are reporting buzzing or humming when listening to something with HD audio. Plus some heat issues as well.

Pioneer 1018 at BB for 599 aint bad for a regular price item, with 12 percent off coupon the 1018 becomes hella cheap for a DTSHD and trueHD reciever....

This deal aint bad though..

The ES series certainly does. Favorably, too.
