Home runs much better on my computer it seems to use less ram than pro did, and dosent lag as bad. Home is also cheaper.

DVD drives are good if you want to watch movies on your computer, not many software titles comes on dvd it never seemed to catch on. I would get a decoder card, much better than useing software. I have the creative encore 12x its not to loud and its got a dolby output and svideo.

I have 512mb of PC-800 Samsung RDRAM it works great, have'nt had any problems. I think they are one of the only companys makeing RDRAM :(.

XP is very picky about the drivers, make sure you use signed drivers and the lastest version of your burning software. I had a problem when I did the upgrade from ME to XP with my cd burner I had to do a clean install of XP for it to work.

I would go with whatever you can afford, your best deal will probabley come from AMD I wish I bought an AMD instead of Intel :( and try www.pricewatch.com losts of venders. :)
