I know that Gb = Gigabits rather than GigaBytes...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but to get 3Gb/s the drives would have to transfer 375MB/s... that seems to be impossible w/ 300MB/s drives. And that 300MB/s is a theoretical max, isn't it?
I hate marketing exaggeration.
Forgive me if this has been brought up before - I did a few searches and didn't come up w/ anything. So, I figured I'd ask my question.
It has been my understanding that SATA II hard drives had a theoretical max transfer rate of 300MB/s. Is this correct? If so, where's Newegg getting their...
Just FYI, I bought the XFX 6800 in the 'newer' retail packaging and I'm running it on an old Antec 300W PSU - because that's all I have. :)
It's been solid. It's hard to argue w/ the price and the 'double' warranty.
sorry, i didn't mean to hijack anyone's anything. i just noticed that someone was having problems w/ an ATI-based card and the DVI port on that card...
anyway, thanks for the lead. i think i'll skip the soldering modifications... my card is labeled RV2LE-B3. i may just send it back to Newegg...
i've got a powercolor 7500 (RV2LE) hooked up to two Samsung 955df's... (one on VGA and one on a DVI-VGA adap.)... any monitor connected to the DVI port on the card is blurry (or ghosty, depending on how you want to describe it). i tried emailing Powercolor's tech support, but i keep getting...
i've got two samsung 955df's (beautiful monitors!) connected to my cheapie powercolor 7500... unfortunately, the secondary display (using a dvi-vga adapter) is all blurry. :( need to find a better one. are all dvi-vga adapters created equal? are they brand-of-card specific? is my mom at your...
we have an NT4 server setup for our software developers. they've recently been upgraded to windows 2000 machines... now, copying files from the NT4 server to their own workstation is ridiculously slow. users of NT4 and 98 boxes have no trouble w/ network speed.
we tried a fix suggested at...
what linux distro would you use for a box that's just going to be used for storage.
it needs to connect to a winNT network and we'd like to be able to alter directory permissions. (and obviously, we're new w/ linux and it'd need to be fairly easy to use.)
my guess is all geforce3 cards that have the dvi-out included on the card. but, i don't own one or know anyone that does... so i wouldn't be able to tell you for sure.
my wife's buying me a new 19" monitor for christmas (i think ;)), and i'd like to try and use my old 17" with it in a dualie...
thanks for the quick response.
i actually got the alpha from 3dfxcool.com (now 1coolpc.com) about a year and a half ago. i'll try both the alpha and the stock hs/f and post results.
i just wanted to make sure i wasn't going to fry my proc by trying the alpha.
