This same thing has happened to me before. I think you hit either alt, ctrl, or esc two times to revert back to normal tab function. Pretty sure its alt twice. Also, I think a reboot will also work.
Most likely. If the administrator was playing around with settings on the server that have to do with mail relay then he could have mistakenly killed relay for people that have boxes on his server as well.
