Is there such thing as "safe, minor overclocking" for my AK31A v3.1 / Athlon XP 1600+?

I just got a Shuttle AK31A rev 3.1 with an Athlon XP 1600+. Right now, with no overclocking of any kind, I get 39C idle and 47C after 2 hours of CPUBurn running. Is there any simple thing I can change (FSB?) that will give me a slight gain in performance without having the worries of hard-core...

Please suggest CPU fan alternative...mine's annoyingly loud!

One more thing... I just found out about the Sunon KD1208PTS3 fan... it seems to be really quiet with a decent cfm (25dbA/31CFM). Is this adequate for the 1600+? Also, what are the downsides to a sleeve-bearing fan such as this one?

Please suggest CPU fan alternative...mine's annoyingly loud!

I just built a new Athlon XP 1600+ system and I bought the Thermaltake Volcano 5 HSF. I thought that the fan was supposed to be relatively quiet, but I've found that I just can't stand it. I guess my old PC had such a quiet fan that I got spoiled. I like the heatsink, but I'd like to replace...

What fan/heatsink should I use if I will NOT be overclocking?

I'm going to buy an Athlon XP 1600+ and one of the KT266A motherboards. I don't plan on overclocking, although I may overclock it very slightly if it's not too much extra effort. All the posts I've read seem to focus on all kinds of thermal paste and huge heatsinks and loud fans... I just want...

Question: Buy now or wait for new motherboards?

Hey everyone, I'm currently in the market to buy a KT266A-based motherboard. It seems as if no one agrees on which motherboards are actually good since each seems to have their individual problems. Do you think it's smart to wait for some newer more robust solutions or just to buy one now...

Best motherboard for Athlon XP CPU?

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about buying a new computer for quite some time now, and I think I'm finally ready to buy one. I've decided that I'll most likely get the Athlon XP 1800+ CPU but I'm having trouble deciding which motherboard to buy. I've read the reviews of the boards on...
