OT - For anyone who got the BestBuy Black Friday Deal

Great - thank you for reminding me. I had saw this rebate on several websites while researching this camera, but I just never thought about applying it to Best Buy's deal. That $50 oughta cover nicely the extra battery and mini-dv tapes.

    [DEAD]Logitech X-530 speakers for $34 shipped

Thanks, OP, just got one. Been eyeing this set for a while now, kicked myself for not getting them when they were down to $40 earlier. With regards to budget shipping, I noticed that same problem. Try opening the page in Internet Explorer instead of Firefox - that was the only way I was...

Fun, arcade style racing games for PC?

Are there similar games along the lines of Burnout available for the PC? I'd like to try a non-sim racing game that's pure arcade-like fun. Something you can just take out and play for a quick half-hour and not get so engaged that you end up staying up all night.

Free Bay Area D.J. starter lesson and 10% of all DJ classes after survey completion

The questionnaire is hosted on Zoomerang, and should only take less than 5 minutes. It?s for a school research project at UC Berkeley, and the project sponsor, Norcal DJMPA, has personally guaranteed all survey participants will have their free lessons honored. The zoomerang link is: Hobby...

    Digital cameras: reliable sources

I wouldn't trust too many sellers on Pricewatch.com. Most of these are selling grey market cameras, and they'll try to tack on a lot of extra "accessories" that would come standard on a retail version of the camera. Dell.com has often been the best place to get a good deal on digital cameras...

Got it! - Problem solved - Please delete

Well, it turns out it was the fan - pressing the insert key doesn't always work to bypass the FOC control. Thankfully, I had an old SVC fan with an rpm sensor that spun up fast enough. Moderators, please help lock/delete this thread.

Got it! - Problem solved - Please delete

After powering on, I get the standard beep, fans spin, motherboard lights up, but then I get one long continuous 3 second beep and the system shuts down. Given that the first beep is normal, the board and cpu seem to be communicating fine. But something is shutting it down afterwards. From the...

    AMD 1700+ - getting 54 C idle - too hot?

Sounds good to me so far - I was planning on reattaching the 8045 heatsink anyways, and this time around, I'll pay more attention to the plastic washers and any possibility of the heat bubble. Also, I didn't clean off the 8045 bottom copper part with acetone before I applied a fresh layer of...

    AMD 1700+ - getting 54 C idle - too hot?

TIM? I'm guessing you're referring to the thermal paste - I'm using Artic Silver 3. Fresh batch too - just bought it recently from SVC Compucycle. So, I'm pretty much lost on what else to check out. I might remove and reinstall the heatsink again - maybe something's out of place or is...

    AMD 1700+ - getting 54 C idle - too hot?

I swapped out my AMD 1600+ for a friend's AMD 1700+ - and the temps have jumped about 4 degrees! I'm not overclocking, and my system specs are as follows: Epox 8KHA+ motherboard AMD 1700+ XP CPU Alpha 8045 heatsink with 32cfm Panaflo 80mm fan 512 Samsung PC2100 DDR memory GeForce 2 Ti500 vid...

Siebel's Universal Application Network - can anyone help me a little with this?

Hey guys, I hope this sound like too dumb of a question. I'm researching into Siebel's core products, and one of the new developments that they're really touting is their Universal Application Network. I'm still not quite sure how it's supposed to help a business, or what makes it so special...

    how are enhance power supplies?

If you read the reviews at Newegg.com for the Enhance 350w power supply, you'll see that they are definitely one of the noiser power supplies around. However - modding a power supply is an easy task and worth the effort if you're looking to save a few bucks. Do what Jolt2 said, which is...

    Help build this system

I'm checking around to see if the alpha 8045 will fit on your gigabyte mboard too. Most of the Gigabyte 266a mboards worked fine with the Alpha 8045, so I'm guessing it probably will. Your best bet is to either email alphanovatech.com and ask them or email gigabyte's customer support and...

    Help build this system

First, list the price you're getting for each part - it'll give us a clearer idea as to what you're perhaps overpaying for and what you're getting a good deal on. (Retailer info also is important - buying from just any Pricewatch company because of their low advertised prices is a dangerous...

    Power Supply Question

In the voltage meu, under voltage configuration, are you selecting the right configuration that matches your motherboard? Running MBM5 on my computer with an Epox 8KHA+ mb, I had initially selected the first configuration which was slightly different from my Epox config. My readings for the 5v...
