I've read that the stock HSF that comes with the other AMD dual cores is a decent performer and can be found for a good price on eBay. Around $15 in most cases. Here is a good review http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=399 .
Personally, I ended up going with the Zalman 9500...
I got the Sapphire X850XT about 3 weeks ago. Great card for my needs. The fan is loud for about 5 sec when I first power up my PC then it slows down. I play alot of WoW and I can hear my power supply fan over the video card fan even after hours of playing. In fact if it didn't wind up when I...
What are you using to monitor your temps? That does seem high for stock settings. My X2 3800 is OC'd to 2500 and reads 23C at idle and 52C under full load. This is with a stock HSF. I have an 80mm fan blowing out the top of my case and another 80mm bringing in air from the bottom front of...
Thanks purple. :)
I read your thread and decided to bump up to similar settings. Right now I'm running 250x10 and HTT 3x. Memory is set at 133 right now and was reading 332mhz in nTune. When I tried 150 it was reading 500mhz and when set at 166 it was somewhere around 732. Not sure how...
Well, I've been able to hit 2400mhz now with no instability problems. (at least not yet!) Before I was getting iE crashes but I changed my memory divider to 166 and the system stabilized. I have the voltage set at 1.425v right now and Smartguardian is reading 1.37v and the AMD monitor reads...
Thx for the responses guys. :)
I tinkered with some settings tonight and was able to reach 2400mhz but I started getting a few odd IE errors so I rebooted and reset the settings back to their defaults for now. I did not tinker with ram timings or speed at all though and I think that might...
I've been running my new X2 3800+ for a week now on stock settings. So far, so good. I've run Prime 95 on both cores simultaneously and tested for 12+ hrs with no reported failures. Now I'm at the point where I'm considering a mild overclock. The problem is that I'm a complete newb when it...
I went with the DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D and it supports my AMD X2 3800+ with no problems.
Only problem is that for whatever reason mine does not have the IEEE 1394 port on the back like shown in the pictures. :(
I'm in the same boat. I'm doing a PC rebuild on a limited budget. I decided to go with the X2 3800 from Newegg for $270. I'm not planning on doing extreme overclocking. If I can get the 3800 stable at 2.4 with a cooling fan I'll be happy.
I figure even at stock speeds it will probably...
