    You cannot just connect your (B) and (D) drives together on your new computer. According to your setup, neither has an OS installed.     dpm, You're right. It was in Spybot, Immunize. The only thing is, why wasn't the lock removed when the program was un-installed? morkinva, XP Home does not have the gpedit.msc feature. It is only available for XP Pro. Anyway, thanks guys for your help.

    Reformatting XP

    All you need to do is boot off of the XP CD. It will step you through the process to re-format and re-install. Just ignore the warning about an exsisting OS and re-format.

    The Microsolution Backpack that I have has a Mitsumi IDE CDRW inside the case. I had removed it from the case and installed into the PC. Windows recognized it, so did the burning software. Works great in the PC even if it's several years old.
