i bought a set and i'm VERY pleased. but do keep in mind that these are refurb so there will be some blemishes. my blemish happens to be some nipped up wires. no biggie in my opinion, i just electric taped it up. other than that, this baby sounds better than my friends z560s!!!
thanks for a lot of repsonse. i went ahead and tried stopping the fan on my vid card, and thre seems to still be a a loud whirring noise. i even stopped the fan on my northbridge, no luck. i dunno what else could be causing the noise.
Does anyone by chance know (or stumbled on an article) how loud the stock fan on these cards are? I'm still getting a loud noise from my pc after all the panaflo L1A swapping and the only thing left are the vid card and my mobo's bridge fan.
i personally think 44 dba is loud. i am using the panaflo L1 with my alpha heatsink.. it's only 21dba. I have a 2100+ OC to about 1.8GHz and temp is around 51C.
what exactly is "screwey" about it? i've had madden installed on both 2000 and xp and i haven't had any problems. only problems i ever faced were instabilities but that was resolved with a good psu and proper detonators.
technically speaking, 55deg is fine. But it is in your best interest to look into get'n a new hsf, or consider case fans if you don't have any already.
i'm using the panaflos (21dba). temps are consistent on my 2100+. They range around 49-52 deg. Case Fans do play a factor of about 2-3deg. I have the rheobus, so i only crank it full (4 fans) when i'm playing games.
Thanks for the reply Matt. Yeah my friend had a 400 watt and was pretty loud, he swapped the fans out with the panaflo and are dead silent. He hasn't had any instabilities for a good month now, so I might get one of those then. Thanks!
I'm almost done with building my pc, but I'm afraid to overlook the PSU. I'm not sure how much I need for my current setup. The basic setup (give or take mods e.g. lights & case fans) are:
kr7a-raid
xp 2100+
512mb crucial 2100
1 20gig hd
2 80gig hd
geforce4 ti4600
3-5 pci cards
I was looking...
Mikewarrior2,
Yeah that's what I thougth too, but i had instabilities too. I would get constant reboots during high cpu utilization even freezes. My temp readings were around 60deg. I don't know if it was coincidental with the BIOS change, but I felt that it had to do with the temperature.
