I bought an athlon xp 2000+ and at idle it runs at ~55C processor temp. I put artic silver on it and everything but the HSF unit just isnt that great. I havent tested it under load yet, but should i worry if it gets up above 60 and maybe around 65 under load? I dont plan to overclock it or anything.
TIA

technically speaking, 55deg is fine. But it is in your best interest to look into get'n a new hsf, or consider case fans if you don't have any already.

55-58 idle was on a fairly cool day... what temp will this be prone to lockup at? It is not my system and they just use it for office related purposes so it doesnt really matter if it runs hot, as long as it doesnt crash.

it varies, but from my experience, it usually auto restarts at about 65deg. so if your temp stays under 60 then i guess you'll be fine.
