    Z-5500 and digital audio questions

If you are getting any kind of static/interference when listenig to PC speakers, and you have a choice of digital coax or fiber optic, always go fiber optic. Digital coax still brings with it electrical noise which, though very slight, can be annoying. Note: it won't be enough noise to affect...

Name the Top 3 Aftermark processor heatsinks...

I have both the TRUE (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme) and a Zalman 9700 (and have used several Zalman 9500s in the past). While the TRUE is often quoted as one of the best, you'll also read that many people end up 'lapping' their TRUE... that is, they sand down the base of it to a near mirror...

    Post pics of your setup!

JG's Living Room -- May 2008 Edition [see bottom for device list] [note: my wife's living room is on the flip side of the wall where the 70" is. She has my older 36" HDTV (CRT) and my older 5.1 audio setup; her couch is nicer, however, which keeps the older folks in her living room when they...

How to achieve super fast load times?

No offense, but I think it's funny that you are being offered up all these ridiculously esoteric high-tech solutions (since you yourself said money was no problem) and yet you continue to talk about using a Core2Duo, and an E6600 at that. [Not that there's anything wrong with that, but you...

Programs that actually use all 4 cores of a quad core chip... please contribute!

2nd'ed I use Acronis True Image 11 (Home edition)... it does indeed use all 4 cores of my Q9450 and damn near maxes them as well. I backup my C: drive (which contains 64-bit Vista Ultimate and a few programs, totalling about 16GB) in under 6 minutes or so (maybe less, I'll have pay attention...

    X48-DQ6 / q9450 - OC temps: Too high?

FYI: RealTemp is currently using a TjMax that is 10C lower than CoreTemp. One other thing... DON'T LET THAT MOBO AUTO SET THE VOLTAGE FOR THE CPU, MCH, OR FSB when you overclock. I have the same setup and did that at first and found that it set the CPU voltage a LOT higher than it needed...

    X48-DQ6 / q9450 - OC temps: Too high?

See my settings. I have the same board, CPU, and HSF as you -- though my case is also setup wind tunnel style with quite audible fan action. Just note that some people believe my FSB and MCH overvoltage settings are on the edge of safety, so perhaps don't go that high. You really should be...

    X48-DQ6 / q9450 - OC temps: Too high?

I'm running 450x8 (3.6) on mine and get lower temps. I set my VCore to 1.325 in BIOS and it gets read under load by CPU-z as 1.28 Tempwise, using RealTemp (shows TjMax of 95C), I idle at 39-42C across cores... most simple stuff (Internet, etc) bumps that to mid 40s or so. Games get it up...

    Q9450 on Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6

Is there much point to trying to lower ram timings from 5-5-5-XX to 4-4-4-XX on these? Would that introduce much in the way of performance for standard gaming and/or video encoding operations?

    X3350 / Q9450 Overclocking Thread

Oh, and if on my X48 Gigabyte mobo, my FSB overvoltage is +0.20 and my FSB overvoltage is +0.25, what does that mean in absolute figures? I want to be sure I'm not too out there... I can probably try tweaking them lower.

    X3350 / Q9450 Overclocking Thread

Q9450 @ 3.60 GHz -- Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 with 8 GB of RAM // Vista Ultimate 64-bit Here's my setup, originally in its own thread while I tried to figure it out, but now in a presentable 'near-final' form (I may try to lower the MCH and FSB overvoltages a touch, and perhaps try tighter memory...

    CPU cooler help

FYI: Antec makes the P180 and therefore, the fans inside it are Antec fans, with the tri-cool 3 speed switches. (I have 2 P180s and 1 P182).

    Q9450 on Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6

Okay, here's my latest setup.... I'm getting 3.60 GHz at decent temps. I think I may be done with tweaking it for now. [Note: I put the memory back to 1:1 speedwise] Q9450 @ 3.60 GHz -- Prime95 -- 7.25 hr run CPU Speed 3.600 [Note: other settings are made in other areas of the BIOS...

    Q9450 on Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6

You want version 25.something (25.5 maybe?) of Prime95 itself... not the latest version of Orthos. See the link below... it mentions a separate version even for Vista 64... not sure if it matters if you use that or not... http://forums.anandtech.com/me...erthread=y&STARTPAGE=1
