i upgraded my 9800 pro 128mb to a 6800gs 256mb (which is by no means the fastest card) and i noticed massive differences particuarly in games using doom3 engine...i can run them smoothly at 1600x1200 now, whereas before i could run them smoothly at 800x600 also noticed some ugly looking...

thanks, i reckon it seems pretty good :) until i get my pci-express machine - which i am waiting till conroe comes out and the prices drop on dual core CPU's

the 9800SE does not have a massive performance increase over the 9600pro....i recall it being nearly 1/2 as slow as the 9800pro

i was gonna get the 128mb version of the 6800gs but it was advertised as having a 128 bit bus, which put me off!...i think i am correct in this assumption? 256 bit bus makes a big difference (9800 SE has 128 bit bus and has shyt performance, wherea 9600 pro has 256 bus and is much faster)

thanks guys..looks like i have got an okay score of a video card. :D i cant wait till i upgrade properly..i am gonna have 2 boxes...this one with the 6800gs and the (possibly conroe or athlon64 x2) with the next high end ati/nvidia card - i would like to at least keep this system going...

i cant really buy stuff from overseas, so i am getting this card in new zealand for (converted to US dollars) = 206.672 USD...i suppose that is quite cheap for over here for what it is

i want to play kotor 1 and 2 with AA and 1600x1200, quake 4 at 1600x1200, far cry at that...halo, doom 3, vampires: bloodline at that res....hopefully it'll future proof my aging pc a little bit for newer games..maybe even hoping to play oblivion at 1024x768 ?

what does night and day mean?

i wanna play games at 1600x1200 with no aa ..so it should be sweet for most games (bar fear and oblivion) aye?

the reason i mentioned this, is because in quite a few benchmarks i saw the 3000+ (2.0ghz 512k cache) very very close to the 3200+ (at 2.0ghz 1mb cache). So i figured that the 3200+ (2.2ghz 512k cache) model mustnt be very far behind the 3400+ (2.2ghz 1mb cache) and faster in general than the...
