Why do network cards slow down windows boot? Is there ANY fix for this? I'm sick of the 3 min. load times...

Hi, I made the step to dsl about two months ago and obviously got a network card for this. Ever since I put it in my windows boot time has gone from sub 1 min to like 3 or so (even on a fresh install) since nothing else changed is this a config prob or what? Thanks my rig

That sounds very strange, if you messed around with your connection configs I can suggest is d/l'ing windows network booster (a tweak that actually works and optimizes)here. Otherwise, contact your IP tech plp. Good luck

thanks for the suggestion! I thought i had the latest bios (april or something) but I checked abit and a new one kt764 was released this month! I doubt that this will fix my prob since the last bios was for 1.4(266) support...but i'll try it anyways and tell you how it went.

Hi, I just got a new athlon 1.4(266) and had serious instability (non-heat related -- 42/48) freezes etc. Of course I did a fresh install and these probs went away...until I finished installing all my drivers, etc... Now, when ever I boot at 1.2,1.33,or 1.4 the system reboots halfway through...

I'm doing a reformat and need to create a boot disk but when I go to "create disk" it keeps telling me that the files cannot be found on my win 98 SE cd... Do I need a boot disk? How do I make one manually?
