i have finalized my q6600 OC @ 3.5 ghz (it was getting way too hot even with TRUE) and i hvae been trying to tighten the timings of my DDR2-800 Kingston value ram (default imings are 5-5-5-18...i have it at 5-5-5-15 atm at default volts). I am trying to run it at to 4-4-4-12, but it was still...
ok.......
i tried a moderate overclock to 3.2GHZ. I have kept all voltages at stock and its been prime95 stable for the past 6 hrs so far. Temps are 66-58-58-66 for cores 1-4 respectively. Given these temps should i push ahead or call it a day?
crap BSOD in P95 on 3.4ghz. too...
kk, thanks. I will see what i can do.
Just for reference, what is the ballpark normal figures for Q6600 (stock speeds) and TRUE both idle and load?
The delta between cores 1/2, 3/4 may just be the way it is. With the intel stock HSF i noticed the same pattern, and as before core 2 was...
I have just installed a TRUE 120 with a scythe s-flex 1600rpm fan. Neither CPU or the HSF is lapped. Case is a P182 with all 3 fans running on low speed.
I was just wondering if my tempeatures were normal for Q6600 (G0) at stock speeds (2.4hz):
Core 1 and 2: 52-54 (both cores identical...
Core temps read 48-46 across all cores at idle in ambient of 25 degrees (stock CPU speeds). Case is fairly well ventilated (P182 with all cables tucked away nicely)
Is this normal or have i possibly made a mistake with mounting the fan?
I am going to replace my fan with a TRUE and i hope...
okay now i am confused. I am not a computing student so please bear with me on this question.
Is it the clockspeed or the latencies that dermine how well the memory performs in games?
So if my CPU was at 2.4GHZ (266x9) do i get any increased RAM performance by having my ram at 400mhz...
oops forgot to post system details
Q6600 G0 (it has a VID of1.2875, but i hope it still does alright :D)
will fit TRUE 120 cooler
gigabyte P35-DS4
Seagate 500GB 7200.11
Inno3D (some no-name brand?) 8800GT
Kingston Vaue RAM 2GB 800Mhz
Corsair 620W PSU
I just built a pretty ok system, but i think i screwed up on the ram. At the shops i asked for ram with tight timings, but they only had Kingston value ram and i thought that would do... (i always thought Kingston was a goodbrand...how bad could things be?).
I put the system together and...
i wired most of my cables through the non-mobo side of the computer, but no matter how i juggled them i could not get them flat enough. i can put the side panel on, but it bulges a bit. is this going to be a problem and how can i fix this?
Using Antec P182 case. Since its a tower, my mobo will be perpendicular to the ground, and hence if i just whacked the Zalman on it would be sideways like this

| ----------
|-- Zalman|

Ground
will gravity make the zalman...
this may be a horribly stupid question but...
Since my budget is limited i am only going to use my 2x 1GB sticks in single channel mode.
Later on, if i got 2x 2GB sticks of DDR and ran them in dual channel mode, it will be twice as fast right :P?
i.e. faster than DDR3 in single...
Ok i think i've more or less finalised my build:
Case:
-Antech P182
PSU
-Corsair HX620 (overkill?)
Mobo
-P35C-DS3R or P35-DS4. This is my main dilemma: is the DDR3 support of the DS3R worth losing the heatpipe in the DS4? I've read that DS4R's overclock with quad cores is only so-so...
