How in the ---- do you install the Zalman ZM-NB47J northbridge heatsink? Where are the friggin mounting holes? There are only these four verticle metal rings for the stock fan (which is noisy crap), and there's no way I can use those for the Zalman. How is everyone else doing it?

    Weird DVD-playing problem

Well here's the dillio, and it's pretty bizarre. At some point I had activated hardware acceleration in PowerDVD. Apparanly, that F'ed up DVD playing, in every video-player application. So I turned it off in PowerDVD and it works perfectly fine, even though hardware acceleration is on full in...

Flashed the 1.5 bios. Didn't help my overclocking situation, but I didn't really expect it to. Still can't overclock one damn mhz without it not being able to detect my hard drive. Don't know what in the hell that's about. Speaking of the 1.5 bios, I was using the Windows Flashmenu utility...

    Weird DVD-playing problem

It happened again, and I got the same message in the Event Log. Obviously it's not a problem with my dvd player......something's wrong with my videocard, or the software for it. I mean why else would the video settings go back to 640x480 and 256 colors? (this time it wouldn't let me put the...

    Weird DVD-playing problem

It just happened again with PowerDVD, froze, and then after about 30 seconds or so I was able to alt-ctrl-del out of it and got some funky error message and the desktop was to minimal visual settings (640x480, etc.). I found this in the Windows event log, I'm fairly certain it's related to the...

    Weird DVD-playing problem

Firstly, my setup: P4 2.4C Abit IC7 -- v14 bios 2x256mb HyperX PC3500 ATI Radeon 9800 -- catalyst 3.5 drivers Turtle Beach Montego soundcard (the 'original', I think) ATI TV Wonder VE card Pioneer DVD-115 16x WinXP Home DirectX 9 WMP 9 PowerDVD 3.0 (w/XP patch) So here's the problem: whenever...

Nope, never got it to work. I really can't think of anything aside from flashing the 1.3 bios from the 1.4 I'm using, but I don't know how much that will help. I've tried countless setting combinations and I can't get the damn thing to boot with the FSB clocked 1mhz over the stock speed.

Wow, I was just about to come in here and ask a question about that. A little while ago I heard that earlier releases of the IC7 have a northbridge fan that is kind of defective in that it can get incredibly loud. Is that true? If so, I think I've got one. It seems as though the northbridge...

    Yeah, that's set as fixed.

Well I tried all of that, and I keep getting disk errors on bootup. Even when upping the FSB only 1mhz, as well as 5 and 10. I'll try a few other things, perhaps including flashing the bios to 1.3, but I'm going to start looking into RMAing something back to newegg. I didn't pay for all these...

Well this is incredibly disappointing. I've tried everything it seems, with the RAM timings, ratios, various FSB settings, even slight voltage adjustments, and I just can't get the computer to boot. Is my 2.4C just an overclocking dud or what?

So is it normal for an over-overclocked PC to not boot up simply from not finding the hard drive, or is something else wrong?

Well that sounds like a bit of a different problem. I'm not having any problems when I'm not overclocking, so I don't know if doing what you did will get my computer to find my hard drive on bootup after OCing the FSB. But I'll give it a shot anyway. Anybody else have any ideas? This is...
