I would be looking towards SATA because of the new motherboards. It will make upgrading easier later. I just wanted to know if I could use a SATA drive with my system, being that I have 2.2 pci slots. I take it that I can by the responses I've gotten. I have only found 2.3 pci controllers so...

Well I only have the one 80Gb drive left. I was looking to get some more space and saw the SATA drives that are available. Are you saying I would be better off getting a 120 or something like that and staying with the ATA 133?

What OS are you using? Perhaps you can go back to last known good configuration. I haven't seen that happen before with that program.

P.S. Some of those commands aren't necessary. They just won't work, but following that is how I fixed several XP pc's that wouldn't boot up with that same problem. A couple folks got new memory and that seemed to fix the problem with it happening. Hope this helps!

HI I have a Gigabyte 7vxrp rev 1.1 - can I get a sata pci card that will work in my system? I realize my motherboard doesn't have the 2.3 pci compliant slots, it is using 2.2 pci. I also know that my mobo doesn't have the sata connection on it. I was hoping that I could still upgrade to a SATA...
