Celeron (Conroe-L) vs Celeron D (Cedar Mill) for web browsing and gaming

Okay so the thing is, overclocking isn't an option. Neither is buying a new setup/cpu that is not a Pentium 4/Pentium D (they're the only ones he can afford atm). So at stock speeds, Conroe-L (1.6ghz) vs Cedar Mill (3.2ghz), which one is superior? Or should he just pick up a Pentium 4/Pentium D?

Celeron (Conroe-L) vs Celeron D (Cedar Mill) for web browsing and gaming

The thing is, he barely has a budget. He may have $15-20 for a better cpu, but that's it.

Celeron (Conroe-L) vs Celeron D (Cedar Mill) for web browsing and gaming

I have no budget. Only the parts that I have are the ones available for the build. And yes these are all recycled parts from old PCs over the years. I have an Asus P5GC-MX mobo for this build. So far, I haven't seen any options for overclocking on the Celeron D 352. Should there magically be...

Celeron (Conroe-L) vs Celeron D (Cedar Mill) for web browsing and gaming

I'm putting together a low-budget rig for a friend. There are 2 options: Celeron D 352 3.2ghz (Cedar Mill) and a Celeron 420 1.6ghz (Conroe). He doesn't do much besides use word documents and browse the internet and such. Sometimes he plays games of counterstrike or league of legends. The Cedar...

    CPU - Cache vs. Clockspeed

In different applications, which applications (games, video editing, etc) utilize the cache more and which one utilizes higher clockspeeds? Are both important for games?

    Is it worth upgrading cpu?

The thing is, my budget will never be high enough for a full system upgrade. Only certain parts here and there every few years. I'm using this CPU for gaming and web browsing, except the E3300 overclocked can't handle games like TF2 and Left 4 Dead. I had a Core 2 Duo a few years ago that...

    New GPU for ancient rig

Well you could look on the FS/FT threads to find a cheap, used video card there. I'd say replace it with an 8800gt or something of the like. They can be found for less than $40 shipped to the states.

    Is it worth upgrading cpu?

Currently, I have a 775 Celeron Wolfdale E3300 in a G41-ES2L board overclocked at 3.5 ghz/1.4 volts. The board's FSB doesn't go past 280 so I can't overclock any higher. Would a Pentium E5400 be a worthwhile upgrade while i throw the E3300 into my HTPC? Or should I just grab a cheap core 2 duo...

Stock 775 fan vs. Hyper 212+ Passive

The thing is, I need the fan for something else, so I was just wondering how the passive Hyper 212+ does against the stock 775 fan.

Stock 775 fan vs. Hyper 212+ Passive

So currently, I have a Celeron E3300 overclocked at 3.5 ghz/1.4 volts with a Hyper 212+ without a fan, so it's running passive. The thing is, my case has really bad ventilation and the temps are hitting the high 60s under load (intel burn test). I was wondering if a stock cooler would be any...

    graphics card doesnt post

Well when I had it, it worked well by itself, but I think my friend has already tried it in a non-SLI set up as well. What could be possible problems? Should I try baking it? The previous owner of the GTX570 was willing to RMA it so all is good.

well, my psu is an antec earthwatts 650 watt psu and my mobo was a gigabyte 790fxt ud5p. i have no idea about the gtx 570 since i just got it. as for the gtx 275 though, it has worked with the board and the psu before i sold it to a friend. when he got it, he told me it was doa, and it didn't...

    Xfired 4870/4890...

I'm building a setup for a friend. I have a few things I would like to ask: 1. Would this max out Battlefield 3, Crysis and Skyrim at highest possible settings at 1280x1024? 2. Would a 600 watt power supply be enough for this and a Phenom II X2 560 overclocked to 4 ghz and unlocked cores...
