    USB cable networking reliable?

Are there any inherent problems in networkings two computers using an USB network cable? I have read about some users having problems with these. They are supposed to allow sharing of internet connection, file sharing and printing, which is all I need. I have a Netgear router that gives...

new Flat CRT appears to flicker at 75 Hertz

I see...The initial drivers for the monitor allowed for 85 Hertz. However, an update via Windows XP update took this capability away.... Would it be too dumb on my part to re-enable the 85 Hertz? I'd like the monitor to last like 3 years...otherwise I'd get a hardier one.

new Flat CRT appears to flicker at 75 Hertz

I have a weeks-old 19" Philips 109F5 monitor (only sold in Asia, I think) that seems to flicker even at its highest refresh rate at 1280x1024 resolution. I have been using an LCD for the last year, which is very solid, but I wanted a CRT for some video and Photoshop work. I also have...

Need help with buying video card

That was a great heads-up on the new control panel from ATI. Just finished the article. I finally did go with the Leadtek nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra. The driver issues seem to have been taken of, and GDDR3 seems to have taken care of the heat, which I remember as a problem when these types of...

Need help with buying video card

Thank you for all the replies. Looks like the 9600 Pro is a much better contender, especially with DX9 support. However, the 5700U looks interesting, and Newegg has the Leadtek nVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra for $145. I'll spend some time checking that there should be no problems...

Need help with buying video card

Thanks for the reply. I've spent the last two hours researching my question, and finally discovered that the DVI input can be converted to VGA. I'll be using these for video work (capturing and video edit via Premiere 6.5) and for Photoshopping. I might try a game like C&C Generals...

Need help with buying video card

I've now realized that my LCD is analog, and the DVI connector would look very different. Are there any workarounds, or are my options limited to a Matrox Millenium 650 or 750 type card?

Need help with buying video card

I have a P4 2.4 system with 512 RAM. The video card came with the computer, a Geforce 2 MX400. I have two displays, one a 17" LCD and one a 19" Philips CRT. I would like to use both at the same time with the displays being extensions of each other. In other words, I want to have different...

HELP-need Linux boot CD with NTFS read-write

Looks useful and interesting. NTSF should be ok with just rename/copy comands... [hope] Aklso working now on BartPE (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/), but it is not recognizing my XP discs as slipstreamed...Another 126 download from MS just to try this option. NTSF should be fulproof there, if...

HELP-need Linux boot CD with NTFS read-write

In short, I caught the lsass virus on two comptuers. My desktop is now fine, but my laptop has been down for a day. On the laptop I did the dandy things of erasing the lsass.exe file AND the lsarv.dll or something rather right next to it in system32. After rebootig I was told a file was looking...

What jumpers settings for HDs in IEEE1394 enclosures?

That was much appreciated. Had I known this a week ago, much anxiousness would have been avoided. Will definitely try and see how it goes. Thanks for pointing out the daisy chaining and bandwidth issue. I was not sure until now whether bandwidth was measured per port or per an entire firewire...
