USB cable networking reliable?

Are there any inherent problems in networkings two computers using an USB network cable? I have read about some users having problems with these. They are supposed to allow sharing of internet connection, file sharing and printing, which is all I need.

I have a Netgear router that gives me a very low ping, and fixing that is way over my hear. So a $20 cable will be just fine for occasional use. A Linksys setup would work better, but I can't afford one right now. My other computers are laptops, wireless ready, but a USB 2.0 cable is probably the cheapest option for me now.

Be careful, you might fry your Mobos, it is Not a matter of Cable.

Throw a 2nd nic in the first machine and put a crossover between the first and 2nd computer. Setup Internet connection sharing between the 2.

besides USB has a max of 10mbps ... the nic's will be 100's.
