new Flat CRT appears to flicker at 75 Hertz

I have a weeks-old 19" Philips 109F5 monitor (only sold in Asia, I think) that seems to flicker even at its highest refresh rate at 1280x1024 resolution. I have been using an LCD for the last year, which is very solid, but I wanted a CRT for some video and Photoshop work.

I also have just installed an Nvidia 5700 Ultra card using both monitors in dual mode. I'm satisfied with the speed and all. But the flickering appears to be the monitor's and not the card's (before had an Nvidia 440 something).

Q1: It is still early enough to return the monitor. Is some monitor (especially on the left side) a sign things will become much worse down the line, or is this to be expected?

Q2: When I upgrade my video card drivers, should I use the ones from the Nvidia site, or the ones from the manufacturer's, in this case Leadtek?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

I see...The initial drivers for the monitor allowed for 85 Hertz. However, an update via Windows XP update took this capability away.... Would it be too dumb on my part to re-enable the 85 Hertz? I'd like the monitor to last like 3 years...otherwise I'd get a hardier one.

Good 19" CRTs can handle 85-100 MHz. If you're concerned about the longevity of yours, don't hesistate and just bring it back.
