    ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Hardrive Configuration

Ah, that's pretty straight forward then. Thank you for the clarification! Now, where do I find those SATA2 drivers? ;) Is there a link available that would lead me to the absolute latest drivers? I've downloaded the latest ULI "integrated" drivers, 2.13 I believe, and I want to be sure I...

    ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Hardrive Configuration

So let me get this straight... If I'm installing this mobo from scratch with a new SATA2 drive (Samsung Spinpoint 250GB), I'll have to manually install SATA2 drivers??? How do I even get to that point if it won't recognize SATA2 drives? Do I have to install XP with the drive in SATA mode on...

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

"New SATA2 info from Asrock???" I just picked up my Asrock DualSATA2 last night, along with 2GB OCZ Dual Platinums, and a Samsung 250GB Spinpoint drive. Unfortunately I can only look at these until my Lian-Li case arrives next week and I purchase my Opteron 146. That doesn't mean I...

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Thanks for the info! That's great news. I can put my new IntelPRO 10/100/1000 NIC beside it, since it's such a low-profile card. Then my NEC-based USB card, which is also small, THEN the big fat Audigy. I'm hoping to have a slightly more efficient system by disabling onboard net, usb, and...

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Does anyone know if the above card and cooler combination is bigger than the stock X800XT PE AGP card?

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Yep, it's a single-slot cooler. Good news! Thanks.

Plus the Audigy card. ;) The others are just the ones I've bought recently.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Thanks for the reply! The x800xt is an AGP card, actually. Do you think that's going to interfere with the PCI slots? I don't think the blower on this model is as big as previous ones.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

I have 3 PCI cards and an X800XT Platinum -- do you think everything will fit? I'm not sure if the gfx card's cooler is going to block my slots. I just bought a sweet NEC-chipped USB card and an Intel Pro Gigabit card, so I'm hoping to use them and bypass the on-board USB/ethernet.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Hahaha, thanks! That's more in line with what I was picturing.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

That's what I thought, but I was confused as to how that affected a CPU heatsink (isn't that what the XP-90 is?) Thanks.

ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 - Socket 939 with PCI-E and real AGP and Socket AM2 upgrade path

Ummm... Pardon my ignorance, but what's a backplate? Is that what the HSFs clip onto, around the CPU socket?

Opteron 146 Socket 939 $160+shipping (OOS ATM, but can Pre Order) at TankGuys

So when I'm ordering my 148, CABYE 0540 is the one I should be asking for, if possible? The CABNE ones were the original FX stepping ones that aren't available anymore, correct? Trying to get this stepping straightened out in my head... Thx

Opteron 146 Socket 939 $160+shipping (OOS ATM, but can Pre Order) at TankGuys

I'm an OC virgin, so I don't really have an informed opinion. Seeing as how the Asrock is merely an adequate overclocker, I would say no as well. Thanks for the advice! BTW, I've been on your site several times over the past few days, thanks to you contributions in the various Opteron...

Opteron 146 Socket 939 $160+shipping (OOS ATM, but can Pre Order) at TankGuys

Oi... Decisions. I'm looking at the Asrock 939 board, so no crazy overclocking, but I don't know if it's worth the extra few bucks to get the 148 over the 146. I can get the 146 for about $197 Canadian (insane), versus $280 CDN for the 148. What would (any of) you do? I'm so Opteron'd out...
