Just popped in the Nvidia GT 1030 and my max resolution with DVI is 1680x1050 (updated to latest driver). My previous PC had a Radeon R7770 and had an output display of 2560x1440 using the same DVI cable and monitor. Any ideas?
I'm planning on returning it back to Amazon. It's a shame since I purchased it on sale for $69.99. The one that LTC8K6 linked looks like it will work. Thanks for the feedback.
Is it possible replace the heatsink on a passively cooled Geforce GT 1030 graphics card to something thinner? The stock heatsink on this video card is the same thickness as the video card itself and won't fit in my Dell SFF T3420.
Any suggestions on video cards around this range that will fit...
Interesting that it's my monitor that has the limitation. Didn't even think that this could be the problem. Is this limitation mentioned in the spec somewhere?
I ended up buying an external video card (GT 1030) with DVI to solve the issue.
I have a U2711 monitor which supports 2560x1440, but I have not been able to output this resolution with the following connections -
HDMI (PC) - HDMI (monitor) - max is 1920x1080
Display Port (PC) -> DVI converter - DVI (monitor) (I am using only DP port on monitor for another setup) - max is...
Was hoping not to have to clone each partition and then manually create the last one to fit on the smaller HD. Is there a way to clone a HD to not take into account the "unallocated" space?
I have a multiple partition HD which totals 512GB. I am trying to shrink the data partition by ~35GB in order clone the complete image to a 480GB HD. I used gparted and reduced the partition size, but when using clonezilla to clone it to the 480GB HD, it still shows up as as 512GB image. Any...
Yes, there is only 1 router involved which is the converted RT-AC68U. The IP addresses assigned from this router are 192.168.x.x and Checkpoint client assigns 172.24.x.x. So completely different set of IP addresses. What's interesting is when using my phone WIFI, my PC is getting assigned...
I'm unable to find such a setting in my VPN client - Check point End Point Security. How would this setting affect what I am experiencing? Wouldn't the issue point to my router? To clarify, when I "tether" I am just connecting to my Iphone created WIFI network vs. my Asus Router network. It...
This is a bit of a strange issue, but I'm pretty sure it's my Asus RT-AC68U causing the problem (perhaps a setting?).
The issue is that I randomly have issues connecting to non-internal websites when I am connected to my company VPN. The connection will timeout, but then if I refresh, it...

Friend had an extra license for Windows 10 and I was having some Windows Update issues on 2008 which worried me due to all the security fixes being pushed out. Figured it would be a good time to update a 10 year old OS. Everything is fine except for this spinning up/spinning down HD issue.
Ideally, I would have the boot/SSD drive always on (services are always running) and then the storage drives would just go to sleep after say 20 minutes of inactivity. If I try to access something on the storage drive, the drive would wake back up. Right now there just seems to be random...
I have a HTPC that I recently reformatted to Windows 10 Pro from Server 2008 R2. I noticed now that the Storage HDDs spin up and then back down every 30 minutes or so. This is with no activity. I would expect the Storage HDD to spin up only when I try to access it. I never had a problem when...
