Temp of T-Bird 1.4 GHz vs. 1.0 GHz?

How much hotter does the 1.4 GHz run than the 1.0 GHz? I am using a Purple Orb right now on my 1.0, and was wondering if I need a better sink for the 1.4... I'm running at about 98º-100º F at idle (about 114º F under load). Should it be sufficient?

MAJOR problem with Tyan Thunder i840!!! PLEASE help

I have a Tyan Thunder i840, and no matter what I do, the on-board NICs will not work. I've called Tyan, they told me to try a few things (already done, very basic troubleshooting procedures), but nothing helps. PLEASE help me! I get the following errors under Win2k on boot that deal with the...

Poll: MSI K7T Pro2-A: "Floppy A error. System halt"

lol Exactly what happened to me, but I didn't have another board, so I dropped $40 on a new chip shipped overnight to meet a deadline for a system I was building. And how much are you selling your board for? It's a great board IMHO despite its problems. E-mail me if you need a buyer :) .

Poll: MSI K7T Pro2-A: "Floppy A error. System halt"

Whoa, out of the box? Seems like they sent you a bad board. Somebody probably experienced this problem and RMA'd the board with that company, and they happened to send it to you. I used to work for a company who did that, where when something was returned, it was repackaged and put back on...

. HELP!!! Did I fry my Pro2-A mb or just the bios?

Ah, ok. I assume the reason the boot block is not working is because they simply used the boot block from the Pro2, which used the 686A south bridge. The Pro2-A uses the 686B controller, which obviously an updated IDE controller, and probably has an updated floppy controller. Had they updated...

Poll: MSI K7T Pro2-A: "Floppy A error. System halt"

Ok, needed to start a clean thread for this specific problem :) . I have a K7T Pro2-A, and, like many other people I've seen on these forums, I tried to use the Live BIOS utility MSI included with the board to update to the latest beta BIOS (as it enables 4-way interleaving) under Windows 2000...

    soft reboot doesn't work

hahahahaha I can't believe it! It happens to me too! I'm using the TY-RAID BIOS on mine... mine locks up right before doing the memory test. Ctrl+Alt+Del does it again, but the reset button cures it. Interesting... :Q

. HELP!!! Did I fry my Pro2-A mb or just the bios?

I went ahead and ordered a new chip from badflash.com... I would have asked MSI for one, but I have called and e-mailed them since Sunday morning about this and haven't gotten a response. Seeing I need the system working by Friday, I had to buy one. I'll go ahead and request one from MSI for...

    HELP COMPUTER WON'T POST

I'm having the problem Kendogg is having. For a description, all you need to do is read his first post :D . I've asked Jack at badflash.com to be on standby for an order, because if I can solve this tonight, I won't need to order a new one. WTF is up?

. HELP!!! Did I fry my Pro2-A mb or just the bios?

My GOD, someone else HAS had this problem! I have posted dozens of times about this, and haven't gotten a solution yet. But, in my case, when it tries to boot from the floppy (any drive I connect, and I ensure they are connected properly and plugged in), I get the error "Floppy A error...

Bad BIOS flash... almost recovered, one last problem

Bah! I don't own another board with a PLCC chip, nor do I know anyone with one, so the hot swap-n-flash is out of the question. The problem is with the floppy drive giving me that error. What gives?
