Actually no.. I used a coupler + cross over cable with the straight cable when connecting the client computers directly and without when connecting to the hub.

I think I just blew out this mobo... what I did was basically unplugged the HD LED without turning off and the power. Right after that, I smelled something smoking, not a lot though but enough to light up the red light. what do you people think? Does that cause the motherboard to blow out?

I've tried installing a stick of 128MB of PC100 RAM to replace a stick of 32MB of PC66 RAM on an IBM P2-300 computer (6561-53U). Right after POST, the computer freezes and I checked IBM's WWW and it says that this computer only takes PC66. Even so, shouldn't PC100 memory work on a PC66 bus...
