ZZF vs. Newegg

Hey guys I am looking to order some comp parts soon and, having always used Newegg in the past, I was wondering how ZipZoomFly compared in terms of shipping pricing/time/general quality of service. Also, does anyone know if they tax california?

thanks

i used ZZF to order my parts because newegg taxes NJ and Cali. ZZF is good in all of those subjects. I am not sure if ZZF taxes Cali. I don't think they do.

darn they do tax cali. argh.
they also tax over cali's standard tax. I have no idea where that comes from...

do they charge shipping by order$$?
or by weight? anyone know?

zzf is not quite up to the newegg quality of service, they seem to usually take a couple days to box etc, whereas newegg always gets it out the next day at the latest for me.

In GA here, Newegg always comes out cheaper when buying a whole system.
Monarch does charge tax, but can be driven to and back, so no biggie.

I have always heard about newegg's quality of service, but out of the 4 times ive had to call them this past week (damn my debit card!) 3 of the people I talked to seemed to be very bothered by the fact they even had to talk to me, and did not want to listen to my problem. Also expect to spend 45mins on hold.
That said, thier shipping is great and thier prices seem good. I guess I would still recomend them to someone, but pray you don't have to call them with a problem.

Barnett25, you should not be using a debit card on the internet in the first place. Credit card only for the net no matter what debit card you have.

Wow that's strange considering I've been using one since 1997 for 95% of my online purchases (the rest would be through PayPal) through an account I established way back then strictly for online use. Never encountered a single problem and well, let's just say I've done all my X-Mas shopping online since then too and use it several times a week. With online banking I can transfer exactly what's needed into the account instantly and there no chance of someone "maxing out" the card if the numbers are stolen because there's never more than a few dolars extra in the account than what's needed to make the purchase!

In all actuality, a dedicated debit card with attached account is one of the smartest ways to make online purchases! You're always using money you already have and pay no intrest!

Debit card theft liabilities. But if you fund the account manually, that is not a problem.

On topic: Does ZZF allow will call?

also about 10 minutes from where i live...
i wonder if they have pickup...

ZZF is out for me since they won't ship to APO addresses.

Newegg makes an extra effort to get the parts to military/government employees stationed overseas, so that is where my money goes.

ZZF do not have real time inventory, sometime when you place an order & never ship, because they do not have stock. I saw a forum in Anandtech before, when you see Newegg website in stock that mean they are really in stock. Newegg will never sell anything without it or Auto-notify. Newegg charge shipping now!!
