ZX-6R question

Having spent years with a centerstand on my ZX11, I'm now in need of one for my CBR1K. Been procrastinating on making a final decision on whether to get a pitbull or look into cheaper alternatives.

I've had a bunch of stands... at least 5-6 brands.

If it's a single sided swingarm then only get pitbull. They have bearings inside the spool and truly are worth the extra money.

If it's spool mount then get a decent stand, but no need for pitbull quality. I actually still have my t-rex spool rear and triple mount front and it's built well.

Worth their weight in gold. Yes that good. I sold mine after I sold my zx6r. Sold within a couple days for close to what I paid.

No way I'm torquing down on wheel nuts on questionable stands when replacement fairings can cost up to $600 a piece.

^ OFT, I get your side of things. I have 3 buddies who all started on 600cc sport bikes and never dumped bc they rode smart. I get the other side of the story , too. Mainly, I think my choice will be driven by cost and by the condition of the bike. Everybody on here is biased based on what their personal experiences are, so I have to do what I think will be best for me. I appreciate both sides though and am glad to listen.

You seem open to different bikes. I think if I get another bike I'm getting a v-strom. Decent motor, comfortable riding position, great mpg, and best of all if you decide to take some dirt/gravel roads you can.

I think for now, I'm going to mainly search for an SV and ride it all season then sell it next spring for a liter. Who knows maybe I'll just love the damn thing and want to keep it. Or maybe I'll decide I'd rather get a 1200 cruiser or something.. Who knows. But as of right now I'm def. more into the looks of a SS.

It's all subjective. I thought I wanted a cruiser for a while and even looked at some Harleys but after I bought my old Honda I decided that I wanted something lighter that handled better so I went to the SV650.

I've ridden all sorts of different bikes from BMWs to Harleys to sport bikes and standards. I just like a bike that is fun to ride in the twisties so lighter is better. I also like the simplicity of naked bikes. The engine is right there for you to see and I appreciate the beauty in the parts not hidden by plastics.

Where will you be riding primarily? Long straight highways? Twisty mountain roads? Congested city? Bikes are a compromise and no bike will do everything well. Choose the right tool for the task at hand.

Since you're so concerned with price, get a naked SV and put sliders on it. Fairings are expensive and damage easily if not tucked away in a garage all the time. Makes for easier maintenance without them, too. I think SVs look better naked anyway.

Mon-fri will be 85% highway, 15% city. Sat and Sunday would be twisted, but nothing in the "mountains" but I'd try my best to find roads that curve a lot.

Guys a sv650 for sale, 2001 with fairing for $2600. I could get it for 2500 I think, is this a good deal? 18k miles , no scratches or anything

In my opinion that's a bit much, I would rather spend the $2500 and get the newer style. Hell I paid $2500 for an 03 SV, and that was at least 4 years ago.

If it's otherwise a mint bike I would offer $1800 cash and walk if they countered with $2k. But it is spring, so it'll probably sell even at 2500.
