Zumba

Zuma? I love Zuma.

My wife and sister go. Sister's an instructor. Wife has lost 2 dress sizes, sister is down 1. If anything, at least they now know the new popular songs.

Look cool to me. If you're already in at least half decent shape, I think modern dance classes would be better. You'll get fit, and learn good performance art.

eh...id rather drink some beer, adn go swimming, and then drink some more beer

i dont gain weight...but i also dont have a room full of people laughing at me, and i get beer.

I saw an ad for someone doing it here. I went to do my workout today and they were doing it, so I watched for a bit... I swear I wasn't acting too creepy just watching a bunch of women work out :hmm:. Anyway, it looks interesting, but my only issue with it would be that I think I can get a better workout just using the fitness center here rather than dancing. Also, I can just play DDR for free, which the XBOX 360 versions have a work-out mode 🙂.

They also chose to do it on the tennis courts during some of my prime after-work tennis playing hours 🙁. Thankfully, it's only two days a week.

Anybody's gf/wife/S.O. got sucked into going to Zumba Fitness classes?
It's a good workout and all, but I've only started going b/c my one of my gfs became an instructor.

Here's an example in case you haven't heard of Zumba:

Guys can go too. 😛

My girlfriend is a Zumba instructor, she's VERY good.

Here's a quick video... down here in Oklahoma they do half hip hop and half latin during their zumba. This was at a zumbathon so she only did one song and everybody loves it when she does this.... and i like to watch her doing it 🙂

It made me wonder though... is it actually a decent workout? I mean, I can do a decent workout easily at the gym and I don't have to look like I'm readying myself to be the lead star in the next Step Up movie.

I've also noticed one thing about doing workouts outside... you tend to get this false sense of actually doing more work than you think, simply because the heat causes you to sweat more. For example, I can sweat quite a bit when I'm inside working out, simply because I'm exerting enough energy. But I can also sweat that same amount when I'm outside serving a few tennis balls, but that's because it's so damn hot out. While you can always feel the energy drain from a workout, I believe some people tend to think, "wow, I'm really sweating... I must be really working out!" No, it's just hot out.

But whatever 😛.

Go do it once and really try... and you will be dying at the end. It is an awesome full body workout. There was this one guy who had a huge crush on my girlfriend and he was telling her on facebook that when he was at our Haiti zumbathon that he didnt have a hard time at all. So I pulled out the video i took of him and sure enough he was barely even moving most of the time. If you put 75 percent of the effort that the instructor's do you'll be sore in the morning.
