Last Wednesday I received my ZR24w with native displayport (adapters did not work for me, yes I used an active and it would not function without flashing.)

Here is my review of the product after using it for the last few days.

Color: I do not have the correct tools to judge color delta. I will point out that it is 72% gamut, and that most SIPS models have a low delta. I expect this one not to be much different in that regard. Personally I would have preferred a 92% gamut, but only because that is what I have on my gateways - really this comes down to a personal opinion. I will say it is slightly less vibrant than the 92% but also pictures appear more realistic.

This brings me to my only gripe about the monitor; it is difficult to capture in an image, but the monitor does not display a static image very well, if you have a static image you will notice variance in the color - especially noticeable on webpages or casual web games. This seems to be due to the screen used it has a slight texture to it and I believe it to be the culprit making small areas slightly brighter or darker. It is disappointing because my 200$ FHD 2401 has no such issue. Because of this issue I would not purchase it for professional work, or as my main monitor for using the web or working on documents.

This issue is not noticeable when gaming which is my main use of the monitor.

Response: This monitor does exhibit the slightest amount of ghosting. If I take my mouse in a game that is very colorful and move it very quickly in a circle I can notice a slight amount of smear. The smear goes away VERY quickly. I am quite picky about this with my monitors and it is not enough to bother me, you literally have to be looking for it to notice it.

Also on a positive note the monitor displays almost no input lag at all. I have compared it to my FHD2400 and FHD2401 which Anand tested to have an average of 3ms lag. I used my wife's camera and to be honest I was unsure how to adjust shutter speed etc so take this as a preliminary test. You can see in the two of the three shots taken the monitor is in the exact frame as the FHDs and in one shot it is perhaps one step behind, still in transition. I took 20 pictures and in 18 of them the monitors were exactly at the same point and in 2 the transition was still seen - this may be due to SIPS ghosting compared to TN.

So I estimate we are talking about less than 13ms input lag, less than one frame.

Other notes: The monitor has a ton of possible positioning features and it can be tilted in four different directions, raised or lowered etc. It has a USB hub with four ports.

The monitor puts out a good amount of heat. I do not have another IPS model to compare it to, but compared to the TN gateways I would say more than double. If i put my hand behind the monitors I feel almost nothing from the gateways but I feel a significant temperature change from the HP.

Pro: Lots of adjustments, native DP, insignificant input lag, USB connectivity.

Con: screen protection choice makes static images appear "shimmery." Very very slight ghosting with some color changes. Monitor produces more heat than the TN gateway FHD series.

Overdrive affects a lot of monitors in a negative way, I am not going to mess with it. Personally for me I do not have an issue with it.

Ouch. Image quality is paramount for me in a monitor, and though I'm hardly a professional photo editor, etc, I do like my pictures to look pretty... and as accurate as possible. If the unevenness is noticeable, that could be a dealbreaker.

Durandal, would you say the texture is caused by the coating on the panel? Does it seem related in any way to the anti-glare grain common to many IPS matte coatings? It isn't anything to do with the dodgy colour uniformity (across the horizontal axis) that seems to plague many LG.Display panels, right?

I don't recall reading about this issue in the Hard|Forum thread, but it's been several days since I last perused it. Should probably take another look.

what game is that in the first photo?

Call of Duty: MW 2. Looks like the OP found the widescreen fixer (without it, the game looks like shit on three screens). The extra screens are nice, they have often saved my life :D

I'm running three P2310H's from Dell. Wish I had the money for three of those HP-monitors, but I'm not that picky when it comes to monitors.

What other games have you tested durandal?

It seems to be related to the textured coating on the panel. I like the way gateway did it, they have a twisted texture on the screen, this one is kind of bumpy. It isn't terrible, but for a 425$ screen, I would like better. Color uniformity seems fine horizontally, but from pixel to pixel a surface of one color seems shiny in certain spots and more shaded in others.

During gaming it is not noticeable at all, I can just use one of my other monitors for web, pics, and office. If this was going to be your only monitor - I would say don't buy it. However it does not have any green and pink tint either :).

Correct, it is MW2 with widescreen fixer. Running 5760x1200 2xAA everything else set to max.

I have also played in eyefinity BFBC2, Dirt 2, Dragonage, l4d2. Currently redownloading WH40k.

I'll say that ATi has been a bumpy experience for me, but after playing games in eyefinity surround, I will never go back from it. Looking forward to the 6 series.

The only problem I had so far, is that in Dragon Age for example, the image on the side screens is really stretched out ... And I think the same happens in DoW II: Chaos Rising.

I know ATI is quite agressively getting developers to implement support for Eyfinity, but it could be better. I mean, we still have to resort to widescreen fixes for several popular games.

You arent supposed to look directly at the left and right monitor, it tries to recreate peripheral vision
