yeah just like I said in the other thread. the only time it makes a difference for a single gtx460 is in situations that the gtx460 is too week to handle in the first place. heck even in sli at 2560 with AA it really doesn't do much. for all the people at 1920 there is no reason, aside from maybe GTA 4, to pay extra for the 2gb version of the gtx460.

So its safe to say these 2 of these cards overclocked in sli will help at 2500x1600 with AA in a few games.
And they provide playable framerates.
I was surprised to see even one card showed some good gains.

MrK6, where are you? :)

what? of course gtx460 2gb sli would help in some games at 2560 over the 1gb models. and no you aren't surprised by one card showing any gains because you have acted like it would since the 2gb was first announced. as I said though those single 2gb card gains are useless because its not really playable in the 3 games it actually did anything for. someone with common sense would turn down the settings for a more playable experience on a gtx460 thus eliminating them going over 2gb in the first place.

Yup, looks like there are no gains for the 460 core with 2gb of vram, apart from two games, with minimal improvements.. The extra vram still does not allow the 460s to deliver max settings in demanding games with AA at high resolutions.

As per the Crysis bench, settings had to be run on gamer.

Metro 2033 could not enable AA at all, and could not be run on max settings either.

Another review showing the 460 is really suited to 1680x1050, and cannot deliver good frames at max settings in many games at 1920x1200 and above.

good point, I wish they used more games the p-review.

Edit: i just notice something wierd. WHy in Dirt 2, does it give a good increase with one card, and none with 2 cards?

They should have tested this on Nv Surround, that's where the extra RAM would have shown the most benefit. There are several games where 1GB of VRAM is not enough at 5760x1200.

The raw performance of these cards in SLI is fine in that case, even my 260s can handle most games in Surround.
