PCI-E x1 GPUs are fairly rare, but can be useful in some situations, such as digital signage, or servers, where you would want to use the x16 physical slots for multi-port 10GbE or RAID controller cards.

Unless you really need the warranty, the gt 520 pcie x1 is identical in performance to the gt 710 pcie x1, but much, much cheaper:

As far as the r7 vs 710, seems like the r7 should be almost 2x as fast as the 710:

I don't think the user want to game with it. It's just for non-stuttering, 1080p60 video stream experience.

I use my gtx 260 for looking at PDFs--it's not even close to good enough for gaming anymore.
