not every movie has to be an intelligent comedy to work. zoolander was great for what is was and it never tried to take itself too seriously. it was great.

I like comedy films... don't get me wrong. But Zoolander was horrible.

It was supposed to be stupid, but it was funny. The reason that you almost fell asleep is because you have no sense of humor, you hate puppies and kittens, and you embrace communism.

There are 2 hilarious parts to that movie. 1 is the "dance-off" and the other is the stoned orgy :D

It's not every day that your four best friends die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

Matilda: I became...

Hansel: What?

Matilda: Bulimic.

Derek Zoolander: You can read minds?

I'm waiting for Zoolander to be released on HD-DVD. Now THAT'S funny! :p

Seriously, all people do is gripe on sites like Amazon about how their Blu-ray players and movies don't work right and are total garbage. I have been seeing dirt cheap BR players lately on closeouts, and I just can't bring myself to buy one, after I read countless negative reviews about it first. Most BR players still don't even have internet abilities, and HD had this for years now. How long is it going to take studios to realize Blu-ray is complete junk? And the only HD-DVDs I ever have problems with is the scratched to hell rentals, too.

Sorry, got side tracked. Zoolander ROCKS, OK? ;)

Yes, it sucked ass.

As do so many movies these days, but the so-called "outrageous" comedies are the worst.
They aren't crazy or clever or hilarious, they're just lame. The fact these movies are so incredibly popular probably says something about the American public.

I dont even know if Zoolander is the worst of them. It seems like everything Ben Stiller has done recently is just plain annoying.

I think most American "comedies" are really meant for foreign release to entertain foreign audiences by spoofing American culture. Most of these comedy bombs in the USA do great elsewhere because of this. They are more sarcastic and stupid than funny, but they do have their moments. It's that very sarcastic stupidity that makes such comedy like Mad TV and Saturday Night Live so popular, even though 90% of the comedy skits fails completely in the attempt.

Just look at stand up comedians. Most of their humor is a sarcastic observational style which lampoons American culture quirks. People like George Carlin were masters of it, but most stand up comedians just fail at it and simply rehash each others bits. So when they make a comedy movie here, what we really get is the same rehashed USA stereotypes that foreigners expect, like Zoolander, which other cultures find hilarious. But we obviously find them less funny because it is like looking in a mirror at ourselves for the most part.

And I made 2 wholes posts here without mentioning the rings around Uranus one time! :p

Hansel (Owen Wilson): So I guess uh, I guess you can dere-lick my balls capitan.

Derek (Stiller): I can dere-lick my own balls, thank you very much!

You think you're too cool for school... But I got a newsflash for you, Walter Kronkite. You aren't...

Hey, I got a wacky idea: Let's say we settle this on the runway - HAN....SOLO. (hand motion)

i hate ben stiller and his unfunny movies. he plays the same character in every movie. The only one that was halfway decent was Night at the Museum.

Derek Zoolander: Why do you hate models, Matilda?
Matilda: Honestly?
Hansel: Yes.
Matilda: I think they're vain, stupid, and incredibly self-centered.
Hansel: I totally agree with you. But how do you feel about male models?

Derek Zoolander: There was a moment last night, when she was sandwiched between the two Finnish dwarves and the Maori tribesmen, where I thought, "Wow, I could really spend the rest of my life with this woman".
