Zoo starves bear to death!

They thought the bear was pregnant and would start to hibernate soon, so they stopped giving her food and water. It turns out that the bear wasn't pregnant and was not a species that hibernates during the winter. How stupid can people be?
 
What a bunch of idiots. 🙁

Not taking away from how sad this story is, but that is one ugly bear - it doesn't even look much like a bear, I don't know why they even assumed it would hibernate like one.

 
It's a sloth bear. I suppose more related to sloths than bears. It is a pretty ugly animal. But still. They starved it to death.
 
Damn, are some folks dumb or what? I suppose if it was going into hibernation that it would have stopped eating on it's own, but some dolt decides they know what's best. "Dominion" over the animals just doesn't always work out. I suppose there should be some leniency, it was in Toledo after all.

I can't say that I actually agree with your solution, but it does sound pretty entertaining 😀
 
I don't know who is running the zoo, but since the bear was on loan from Detrot I'm going to send the article to a local talk show host to see if they can flesh out the story a little more.

(best if read in Azrael's voice from Dogma) It's a fvcking bear. (end voice) Come on, even if it's endangered, doesn't mean it's worth more than a human life. We are the most advanced species known to us, and if we acted as nature dictated, we'd have probably killed all the bears by now for food. I don't understand this obsession with preserving endangered species, especially one as ugly as that one.
 
holy sh!t! just when i though people could not get any dumber, these zoo morons come and pull something as dumb as this! i say those zoo officials deserves to be caged and denied food and water, see how they like it.
 
My thoughts are...how in the hell didn't they notice that the bear was hibernating? How do you miss a bear walking around a cage? Dumbasses:|
 
Better question is, how the hell do you &quot;think&quot; the bear is pregnant?

You'd think, especially for an endangered species, they'd at least examine the bear more closely before putting it into a position that could kill it.

sad story though........but COME ON people....it's one animal, and mistakes happens. don't start threatening people to death because of mistakes. and yes, I like animals very much, I have a cute little dog 🙂 I just don't support fanatics who go over the line for the sake of animals.
 
umm i second third forth and fifth the ugly bear motion, and i thought that endangered on loan animals had more scientists following them around than movie stars have paparatzi. well i dunno
