Zone Alarm Free

Does anybody know anything about using this, or any other type of firewall software?

I'm hosting my own web site on a PIII machine, running Windows NT 4.0, using Personal Web Server, and I have Zone Alarm Free as a (so called) firewall.

I have a pretty fast DSL line (1.5/384), connected to a 5 port hub/switch, which feeds a Mac, a PIII Workstation, and the server mentioned above.

I make changes to my web site regularly, and I hit refresh to see my changes. The server is "serving" fine. I've got Zone Alarm configured to the best of my knowledge.

Sometimes I go offsite, like to someone elses machine, and hit my site, just to see the changes and make sure everything is running.

And nothing happens! "Website contacted, waiting for reply". I can sit there all night, but the page doesn't load.

So I run home, and check the server. All I see wrong is Zone Alarm is asking me to allow permission for a new application trying to access my site (like some FTP client I've never heard of). Until I answer yes or no to this Zone Alarm request, does this prevent ANYONE from hitting my site?

What else could cause data to not transfer from the server to someone hitting my site?

Thanks!
