I'm just waiting for the official release next month...too bad I'll be in NYC, so I can't play it til the 15th. Orange Box FTW.

Any idea how much it'll be over Steam?

Orange Box? It's $45 now(pre-ordered) but will be $49 when it's officially released.

Matter as well get it now and enjoy the fun now.

Hmph. I know it's $45 on Amazon...who knows, maybe.

$45 on Steam and downloadable to play the beta now.

so $29 standalone for TF2 (price= ouch), and probably $20 for Portal standalone? damn their forced package deal. I don't want Orange Box, haven't beat HL2 yet, and probably never will so the two episodes included, while a nice deal, are useless for me. And who knows how much I'll play Portal, I'll definitely try it out if I get the package, since it's only $15 more total, versus $29 already for just TF2.

IMO the look fits the game perfectly. It's like playing in an Itchy & Scratchy cartoon or something.
TF2 is the most fun I've had gaming in years. It's a nice (and much needed) break from CS/BF type games.
  from me.

i tend to disagree although alot of my friends have the same thoughts about TF2 being too cartoonish and thus being a turn off. however, the gameplay value of it is just amazing and offers so much fun!

I remember the old "original" TF2 with teamwork and machine gun belt feeding, rapelling/rope climbing. Ther was no Battlefield yet, so if they released that now, it'd just be a Bf "clone" albeit with a lot of different/new features. The cartoony visuals are kinda original.

If you buy the Orange Box, you can gift the subs to the games you already have to someone else.

In other words, you already own HL2. You buy the Orange Box (includes HL2) and you can give the Orange Box version of HL2 to someone else. Not sure of the process, and you can't do it until the whole Orange Box is released (early Oct.), but it's very clear when you place your pre-order.
