I think I may have just sold something. For real. I'm not sure what to do. I took some pictures at Hocking Hills and emailed Hocking Hills asking if they'd want to see them.

I'm not quite sure what to do, or even how to respond. I don't even have any idea what my photos are worth. I don't think Hocking Hills is a place that can pay like $1000 for each photo... or even $100.

I'm so nervous 🙁

I'm going to be heading down to the Hocking Hills area in a day or two so I may just meet them face to face. Not quite sure what I'm gonna say. Heck, I've never even done a job interview before *cries*

i don't know for sure, but i wouldn't expect much from a state park. let us know how it goes though.

I never thought of that. I have a few photos of my local state park (its about 10 minutes away so i could always go back for more). Maybe i should take a few good ones and send them the same thing and see what happens.
 
If you're actually interested in entering professional photography I'd say the credibility is worth more than the photos. Otherwise take what you can get and go buy yourself something cool. Nice photos, btw.

I'm not expecting much either. They probably get a lot of photos too (The park will always be there, it's not like there's going to be a scarcity) so they have probably too much supply, which means 🙁 for me.

Still, I've looked at their pictures in ads and websites and stuff and my quality is definitely better, which isn't hard because most of their shots look like they were taken with a P&S film camera from the 80s.
 
Just do like you told them you'd do and NEGOTIATE. Offer them price breaks for the more the buy obviously. Something like 1 to 2 @ $100 each, 2 to 5 @ $75 each and 6 or more @ $50 each.

You get the general idea, my prices are just guidelines.
 
Charge less for the more they buy. Make it look like you have done this before. Less of a chance of them hiring a photog.
Whatever you decide, sound really sure of yourself.
If you do have questions, just say you haven't done x before (x being a local city or county jobs, or small resort work).
Call a photog in the area and ask for an estimate. Maybe ask for a sample portfolio to make sure it isn't crap. Charge a tad less.

Yeah, I need to figure out a good balance between a resolution that's good enough for prospective buyers to guage quality, and a resolution that's small enough not to get stolen.

I settled on 1600x1200, which is only 1 megapixel I think. But even that may be too high.

It's also a struggle between my desire to share pretty things for free and making money 🙁
 
Thanks for the comments and advice guys! I'll keep all of it in mind, although I'm not too great at acting. This IS my first time, and I AM nervous, and trying to act otherwise may blow up. We'll see 😛

They varied. For the flowing water effect, shutter speed was 1/4 s and longer. Aperture was almost always set at f/8 for max sharpness.

Just watermark them. My dad has a watermarking program and you can make it so its not too intrusive in the pic. Its called Watermark Factory 2 i think.

Just watermark them. My dad has a watermarking program and you can make it so its not too intrusive in the pic. Its called Watermark Factory 2 i think.
