Scientists have revived a ‘zombie’ virus that spent 48,500 years frozen in permafrost

Zombie viruses.eh? I'm sure I've seen this in movies and it never ends well for the human race. Everyone in the article says how careful we all need to be with these, but, according to the movie scripts, there's always someone who does an oopsie! or someone with more sinister motives and there goes all of humanity! And, somehow, real life stories (possibility of covid having been released from a lab comes immediately to mind doncha know) do not instill confidence in our ability to be "careful" enough. Oh, well, if things go badly, maybe I can access Gizmo j's Locked 7-11 to hang out in.

What the scientists did wasn't like they revived something that was dead creating something new but old that is dangerous but to prove that viruses that can infect an ameba were still alive after 48 thousand hears. So the danger doesn't come from scientists creating some horrific new disaster, They just proved that theoretically that deadly viruses that can infect humans may still be alive waiting for a present day host to infect.

Whatever it is, let's inject into Donald Trump and see what happens. I can think of no one more deserving.

Incidentally the same argument against time travel, pulling foreign vira/bacteria back or forth through time to a place they dont belong would create pandemics. Its “funny” to visualize that we’re co developing in a balance with these common viruses and bacteria as we move forward.
