Zombie undead parolee shoots cop!

I was looking @ the slideshow, and they were showing a memorial for that worthless POS that killed the cops. He deserves no memorial.

The memorial isn't for him. The memorial is really for the benefit of the friends & family he left behind. He's dead. The memorial has absolutely zero effect on him. Are you saying that his relatives don't also have the right to mourn his loss as well, simply because (and I'm not disputing this) he was a worthless POS?

Silly question but if someone you knew did this why would you bother to mourn him to begin with?

From the slide show:

A memorial for parolee Lovelle Mixon is shown outside the building where he had a shootout with Oakland police officers, in Oakland, Calif., Monday, March 23, 2009.

If that is a memorial for the family, they sure as hell fooled me.

You would if it was your mom.

I hate to say it but I laughed when I saw the headline after clicking through the OP's link, but then immediately felt bad. Of course this is a tragic situation and God bless the families of those poor officers.

On a related note, I am not offended by the fact that there was a memorial for the shooter (though I think he was scum), but I sure as hell AM offended that there were protests against the police in Oakland following this incident. Some people don't deserve to be protected . . .

I'd be mourning what he did with his life and how it turned out. 🙁

That's the thing. I think this guy was pretty worthless, but if I had given birth to him, loved him and raised him, all the while hoping he'd make me proud and do great things, only to see him die (literally) in a blaze of gunfire after killing four innocents, I think I'd have a lot to cry about. No matter how despicable he may be, the family has the right to mourn.
