That is awesome.

I hear folks claim they are 'Reagan Conservatives' and I shudder at that notion. I think I'd rather be a 'Clinton Conservative'...

EDIT: They may have dug him up which is what I thought happened in '80!

Oh come on come on, the image of Reagan as a fiscal conservative was an illusion and a sham when Reagan was president, why should it be anything but an illusion and a sham now?

I have somewhat a visceral reaction to saying Eisenhower, GHB, or Bill Clinton were wonderful presidents. All of the them basically kicked the addressing the real problems down the road, but some prosperity resulted simply BECAUSE THEY FAILED TO DO REALLY STUPID THINGS. Something that simply cannot be said of Ronald Reagan or GWB
whose stupidity has done lasting damage to the USA.

The jury is somewhat out on the verdict on Obama, who is somewhat a captive to fixing the damage done by GWB&co.

But as an American citizen, I ask why can't we have a US government that is not totally stuck on stupid?

Because many voters are retarded. The US is probably the only G8 country where a politician can basically admit that he's a high school drop out and not get booed off stage.
Republicans: do you believe in evolution?

Intolerance is another huge problem. You probably noticed in the above video that McCain had to explicitly state his religious affiliation. This is because you have no chance of being elected in a federal election if you're the wrong religion. Do you think Obama would have won the election if he said he was Muslim or if he said something to the effect that he didn't care? Of course not.
Race is another big one. People are still talking about Obama being not-white and asking him to prove he was born in the US... because apparently this makes a difference. I shouldn't even need to explain how this causes major problems. Instead of looking at which candidate has valid ideas, many people choose their candidates on superficial things like what religion they are, what color they are, if it's a man or a woman, etc.
