ZJ-Viera all composite ultralight aircraft

Is a 7:1 glide ratio acceptable on an ultralight? Seems a bit low when the jumbo jets can glide to a landing easier than your carbon fiber sail can.

7:1 is the same glide ratio as a Cessna 150. The 152 and 172 are slightly better at 9:1. Piper Tomahawk is 7.5:1...

Someone earlier mentioned that it's too low when compared to a jumbo jet, but most jumbo jets have better glide ratios than small private aircraft or ultralights.

*Shrug* I fly Cessna's, and don't have any ultralight experience, but it doesn't seem to me that 7:1 is outrageous. I wouldn't want to go lower, since it's on the lower end of the norm, but it doesn't seem unreasonably low.

Their brochure lists 10K Euros for a ready to fly version! Cruising range is only around 150 miles, alas, so it'd be tough to pick one up in Czechland and fly it back... unless you could island-hop between several container ships. 😛 Hmmm prevailing west winds... US-bound container ships with speeds of ~15 knots... you wouldn't really have much roll-out on landings. 🙂

Here's my future baby:

Upgraded version of the 701, with more cabin room. It's basically a sky jeep! Tons of visibility too:

Puts the Cessna LSA to shame, haha. Their kit starts at about $15k plus another $5k for the finishing kit, minus the engine. Their 750 was still a prototype when I visited their factory this past summer, but I got to go up in the 701 and it was amazing. The 750 is basically the evolution of the 701 and has a TON more room inside...with the bubble doors, the cabin width is 50" - compare that to the Cessna 172 at 39.5" lol.

My only problem is deciding on a paintjob 😀
