zip drive

I am trying to get a Zip 250 atapi drive to work under dos 5.0
bios calls it out on boot up as a zip 250 atapi, on the summary table for the bios it sees it as cdrom drive
but dos 5.o wont access it
I put it in window machine and formated the disk using FAT.
I ran the guest.exe from dos and i get the message it found drive and gave it drive letter D.
but i cannot access D. it is as if D didnt exist..
Any ideas?

Is the drive formatted, and if so, is it formatted with the FAT16 file system? I don't know that DOS 5.0 can read any other file systems.

The disk is formated Fat 16. I have tried the drivers list by SU. hence the reference to guest.exe
Calvin is onto something i think.. there are many files in the drivers. that i have no clue what they do or which is the actual driver.
I dont have any idea what the config or autoexec bat entries should look like and google wasnt any help
