Currently have this portable drive and would like to know if I really need direct cd (software) to be able to write to a cd-rw. I use it to back up drivers and saved games ect. I currenlty have nero but am not familiar with it yet. Does nero have a program similar to direct cd that I can just drag and drop file to cd from windows explorer?

I have had 2 corrupted cd-rw past few weeks and kind of fed up with direct cd hoping its the software or my cheepo primeperipheral cd-rw.

Using w2k/ yes I used the usb filters and all the patches created.

Thanks for help

Nero has a program called InCD which works very similarly to Direct CD. You can read more about it here.

you seem to be asking 2 questions here.

<< Do I need Direct CD? to drag and drop files? >>

if you're using adaptec, then yes. you'll need to format the cdrw before you can drag & drop, the cdrw becoming much like using a large floppy disk.

<< and would like to know if I really need direct cd (software) to be able to write to a cd-rw. >>

you can copy on to a cdrw like a cdr just using ez creator but you'll need direct cd to use the cdrw like a large floppy.! :)

thanks for reply, main question really is do i need "direct cd" to use a cd-rw like a floppy? or can I use just uninstall it and use some other software or built into win 2000 or NERO and accomplish the same feat.

I guess I can use nero like "directcd" and will give it a go?

Do I really need any special software to drag and drop into a cdrw? or can windows 2000 do this inherently?
