Zero Punctuation Reviews Fallout 3

Wow... now I thought that was bland and missed some of the criticism Fallout 3 received (deservedly) by the obvious large threads on Anandtech.

Poor ZP review. He didnt slag it off enough.

(By the way, I have completed Fallout 3, enjoyed it thoroughly and am currently playing it to do some of the subquests)

149.11.02 according to my saved game pre-end zone.

no idea what that is in real change.

I could understand him fine. Although I expected him to bash it more than he did. (going by the posts I've seen around here; haven't played it yet myself)

I think he was pretty fair, it was a big improvement over oblivion for most people and for that it deserves praise

it has a lot of problems but if they can continue to iterate through the game maybe theyll have an actual...awesome game..soon

Fallout 3 is a pretty awesome game. I have high standards for games, fallout 3 meets those, and I am putting a lot of hours into it.

Fallout 3 is a great game until you run into the ending.

The longer you don't experience the ending, the better the Fallout 3 experience will be.

He was amazingly and uncharacteristically merciful.

I was waiting for the pwnage, but there were none. What the hell's the matter w/ him this week?

He didn't bashed Fallout 3 much because outside of the bugs which cause instability and outside of the consolized interface there's nothing to bash much on, he was merciful because Fallout 3 is actually quite a good game if one can stand the instability problems and the stiff 2002-looking animations. I myself do prefer Fallout 3 to Oblivion and that ain't saying little for me, at least right out of the box it is. I'm still thinking that Oblivion with modifications is superior, but Fallout 3 with major mods, overhauls and in one year from now with two or three patches will be far better, I'm convinced of it.

Ive just gotten out of the vault. Ill just say I enjoyed how the game presented picking your stats. Very nice way to go about it.

Wasn't his best review. Seemed like he was too tired or un-into-it with this review. Haven't played the game yet, but usually enjoy his reviews for their own sake.

He went waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too soft on Fallout 3. This is from someone who completed at least 90% of the game world (all bobble heads, most skill books, most skills at 100%, entire game completed). He had a lot of content to work with, could have made that funnier.

I guess its because fallout 3 is a pretty good game... he was as leniant with it as he was with GTA IV which makes sense because GTA IV was a pretty good game too. I must buy fallout 3 at some point.

I love Fallout 3, it's a very enjoyable game. But yeah there are some quirks and bad design decisions imo.

- Easier to play a bad guy than good guy. Since stealing lowers karma a good guy will never steal and that puts him at a big disadvatange. Esp early in the game. My bad guy is only level 4 but he already has a crap load of ammo, nice armor, 50+ stimpacks and nice weapons. Compared to my good guy at this stage who was much worse off. Also the bad option in some quests seems to give a better reward.

- Pipboy is cumbersome. The map sucks.

- Armor and weapon wear is way too harsh and unrealistic. Lucky there is a mod to fix that.

- *****small spoiler ahead********* Again, we end up searching for a GECK. Just like Fallout 2.

karma is kiind of dumb because like he said, you can steal a lot and still do quests that give good karma (repeatable give the water plant dude scrap metal quest anywone?)
