I disliked Painkiller. It wasn't as much fun as Serious Sam or Serious Sam 2, which I guess spoiled me as far as mindless fun shooters go. It was fun, but not as much fun, so it felt like I was wasting my time because I could be playing Serious Sam 2 instead..

I liked the original, I really disliked Overdose, and Battle out of Hell was alright but not as good nor as funny as the original.

I went to goozex right after this review and added Painkiller gold to my requests... and it looks like several other people did as well.

I loved the game. It goes back to the mindless shooting that made the original Doom a hit while incorperating modern technical features that add to the fun.

Painkiller wouldn't have been anything without the stake gun, what an amazingly satisfying weapon to fire. I hope he mentions it in the review, I haven't watched it yet...

Hah!

Let's hope that game companies don't resort to viral marketing campaigns where they send emails (disguised as fan mail) to Yahtzee requesting their old game be reviewed.

Then again, given Yahtzee's very high standard for games and his general distaste for reviewing games based on popular demand, I don't imagine it would work well. I guess People Can Fly just got lucky with this one. I wonder how many sales they'll get from this review alone?

Lol, yea, it's just little ol me, troll from the PC gaming forum. Ignore the fact that the game at it's peak had like 10 people playing it online. Ignore the CPL pumping MILLIONS of dollars into it to try to make the game competitive only to fail tremendously. Lets all run out and buy it because yahtzee said so. There is near unlimited evidence out there that this game full on failed in virtually every aspect, stuff that half of you won't concede simply because you don't like me being right.

Skace is right though, the stake gun was very very satisfying as a weapon :D

At the very least download the demos before you sink even a dollar into this game.

Hey I've played PK this year and also did the BOH. Actually for it's time it wasn't that bad.

Yeah; I'd like to see your list of games you have liked, Maleficus. The last three threads I have seen you post in have been nothing but hate for the game in question, so I imagine the list would be, what, 2, maybe 3 games?

The problem is that Mal apparently thinks all games need to be MP masterpieces to have even a glimmer of hope at being good. I never played PK for the MP, it was just the mindless old school feeling SP ... and the huge bosses. It felt like playing an arcade game, which was fun.

Yeah, same reason I played Serious Sam. Its not an intelligent game, the story is retarded, cheesy character/enemy models, and it's just mindless killing, but I enjoyed playing it when I had 30 minutes to kill.

Not even remotely true, but citing the insanely poor MP numbers was a solid way to prove my point. Not even the hobos of gaming would touch this, definitely a gutter title, as evidenced by how quickly it was relegated to the bargain bin. They literally couldn't pay people to play this game.
